Only 3 sfs load-and-run in a Frugal SlackOff?

#21 Post by davids45 »

G'day ttuuxxx,

Tried the old bootmanager pet you put on this thread and I got the same problem that I could not load any extra sfs.

So I made a new Frugal SlackOff (plenty of space in my Frugals partition sda7) and asked for four sfs to load when prompted during first re-boot.

But only the first three listed actually were running on re-boot.

So I changed the order listed in boot manager and found the new #4 was not loading, just the first 3 (which included the previous #4).

Is it just me - can someone check if more than 3 sfs are loaded and run with the SlackOff bootmanager?

(Hindsight wisdom: In my first finding of this problem, I had set up SlackOff initially with 3 sfs which all were OK on rebooting. Just couldn't get four or five to start-up, except by 'on-the-fly'. )

Has someone reported that USB flash is not automatically displayed by the desktop?

If this is by design, it's OK. I can use pmount.

i can confirm this in all modern pups (precise onwards including tahr) . with certain android phones they are not auto detected and pmount is needed.

regular usbs are fine.

1. pmount - see attached screenshot of mount without the expected mounted icons showing.

2. I added opera pet and when downloading, if I refresh rox with the partly downloaded file, the opera download appears to be reset to zero (but downloading continues, hence never completes).

3. No success loading any sfs via bootmanager.

This is AMD PC with nVidia chipset, no problem with other 5.xx pups.

Works well on my Dell dual core. It took a bit of time to boot; I was a little surprised at that. Once up, it runs quick and without any noticeable issues.

I like your choice of defaults. I intend to add Handbrake, Libreoffice, Photorec/Testdisk and a few other must haves (in my eyes).

Thanks for the solid distro.

Tested in Tassie.

Sorry but I use Palemoon browser.

Every time Chrome or Iron refuses to open Ixquick.

https://www.ixquick.com/

Bloody Google.

Otherwise seems snappy enough.

Cheers....Chris.

I see the problem - you have your backlight set to 1000% intensity. Need some sunglasses and you'll be fine...
