apt-get error: could not open lock file
I installed apt-get from PPM.(cron-apt_0.9.2)
I tried apt-get update and got an error:
"could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock -open 2: no such file or directory"
"unable to lock administration directory'.
Does apt-get work in tahr 6.0 PAE?

Simply create the lock file
mkdir -p /var/lib/dpkg/
navigate to the directory and right click and select new > blank file 'lock'
There will be some other files in etc that may need creating, and creating them empty may be enough. Getting synaptic package manager to work on puppy is a massive pain in the butt!! Problems with status file and available libc6 etc. Better to write a script that converts puppy installed database to a status file. I heard that Iguleder wrote such a script in ten minutes but he never shared it with anyone!
