Interesting. Some community members get obsessed with the current DW ranking. But there are other measures of Puppy's popularity, like statistics from the Murga forum itself.

People still buy distros via mail ? smaller ones like puppylinux can be downloaded using free wifi at over lunch or breakfast, I know that how I lived for years Wink

Would that effect the rate, Would have used that service for monsters everything included distros.

Still trying to talk Redbox into renting linux combo dvd where the latest ISOs ( unburned ) are available. They rent movies and games, this would be 100% profit.

Some people aren't as fortunate to live in places where they can get decent internet. If a 200MB puppy ISO takes long to download here, imagine how long it takes to download a 2GB ISO image.

I have been known to drive to bigger town just to download new stuff at McDonalds or a Starbucks. I recall stopping after starting home from the big city after Fatdog64 dropped a new version. Turned around and downloaded it from a parking space outside of a free wifi.

Puppylinux used to be broken into parts so you could download pieces and I am still a fan of delta files. Since BK got to the big city I predicted and was proven right all that helpful setup stuff for dialuppers would disappear and size would ballon.

congratulations on your 1K post Exclamation

wow you only been here a year or so. Do you ever go outside???

Every few days I go outside. Technically I got my drivers license a couple months ago, but the roads are still kind of bad. And I am too lazy to get off my butt and drive. AND I don't have a decent battery in my only laptop.

EDIT: I've been on the forum for a little more than two-and-a-half years.

Times have changed a bit now I can get 4G LTE speed late night at the top of my hill in good weather on my android phone . So I can pull ISO files but not those newer compressed stuff for April ( for some reason expands on download and I am cbarged the uncompressed rate of bad data about one G per pop. or 1/3 of my monthly plan it only takes 20 mins to do so. But with regular ISO files and most pets (some pets autoexpand as well ) it works great. Well till no developer kept the changes figured out a year ago to download files from Android to FD64 7B27 or newer April. Twisted Evil Have to boot windows8 for that.

Very Happy Hello,
Download April64 stuff from ibiblio, not nluug.
The stupid devx expanded to 800+ mb during D/L!
As for Puppies "ranking" consider:
My Puppy Linux Users Group on Facebook has over 1300 users from literally every corner of the planet, most of which have never crossed paths with this, our great forum.
D/W is based on D/W.
The fact that puppy is not mainstream is possibly its greatest drawing point. We have a tremendous amount of users who simply use it. I've gotten many posts in my user group that start:
" I have been using Puppy since 2009 and decided to upgrade, so" from people who simply have downloaded it and used it and that was it for 5 years. Thats LTS!!
I have a friend who still uses a puppy 215 CE disk for private browsing. I tried to get him to upgrade.
He said why, it works!

I have had the expansion problems from both but not at the same time Laughing and I reported it first time on that thread but was ignored since no o e else complained about it. ( editor is near death and need to reboot A droid ) it was the eariler quirky thread. adroid editor would not let me edit that prior sentence and my fingers are oossing its ability to be identified, wierd side effect of my muscular dystrophy.. electrical signal stops flowing and muscles stop working after bit more time.. so been trying to predicted how long till my next episode of paralysis after touch screens stop working.
