SeaMonkey rejuvenated
If you're using Linux you can download our SeaMonkey profile/mod and take it for a test drive. Simply extract the zip file to your desktop. Run the following command.
Warning if you're already a SeaMonkey user you may want to backup your SeaMonkey directory located in your .mozilla folder in your home directory.
Open a terminal and enter
cd Desktop
mv -i seamonkey ~/.mozilla/

This is a contribution of the LXLE developer, in order to refresh the look and feel of SeaMonkey Suite, as a standalone app, offered with addons preinstalled.
I haven't tried it, so i can't make any comment about it.

The theme is set to "GNOMErunner / GTK revived (Freedesktop)" and Puppy probably does not have all the needed icons for this theme. You can use View>Apply Theme and switch to the SeaMonkey Default Theme. Otherwise I suspect you may have to track down the icon sets and install them.Jerror wrote:Unfortunately, most of the UI button icons are missing. any ideas?

Thanks, Oscar! The View->Apply Theme menu didn't list any novel themes, so I had figured it was using default. It didn't show default either though, which should have tipped me off The Apply Theme dialogue is broken, but theme extensions are activated upon installation, and installing a theme extension fixed the icons. Cheers!
The apply theme isn't broken, the other themes are disabled and must be enabled through the 'addons' section in order for them to work. A tips page was also started. http://lxle.net/forum/#/discussion/864/ ... s-and-helpJerror wrote:The Apply Theme dialogue is broken, but theme extensions are activated upon installation, and installing a theme extension fixed the icons. Just wanted to address your question. Thanks for trying it out. Puppy is pretty sweet btw and rest assured this post is in no way any intention to post lxle stuff in the puppy forums. I don't want it to be taken as such. Cheers.
Since I also run LXLE on a couple of boxes I grabbed this as soon as it was announced.musher0 wrote:Care to share a picture of the "new baby"?
Here's some shots of the basically default results on Tahr 6.0.2....

I'm using the latest version 2.33 on Tahr in the above screenshots. Just updated it.BarryK wrote:Would you mind telling me what version of SeaMonkey they are using?
(look under Help -> About SeaMonkey)
I am intrigued, as my compiles of 2.32.1 and 2.33 do not show installed add-ons in the Add Ons Manager.

Currently you can try out our SeaMonkey mod by installing and or downloading SeaMonkey from the SeaMonkey website or Ubuntuzilla. Once installed simply replace the SeaMonkey directory with the one available in our downloadable zip and relaunch SeaMonkey.
If you're using Linux you can download our SeaMonkey profile/mod and take it for a test drive. Simply extract the zip file to your desktop. Run the following command.

One item of interest as I see more and more stand alone apps being bettered by making a web interface to support it. I was looking over slitaz ( new 64bit ) and like the direction where instead of gtk-dialog scripts its a web script controlling the setup. In true chicken egg paradox they use a browser to setup networking

Hi!
Many thanks for the tip, it is very valuable.
One question:
- does anybody knows how is done the "favored bookmarks" and "frequented websites", there are on the bookmark toolbar, so that I can tweak them??
Wow, that's a huge pile of addons and userstyles. Adds a pretty hefty profile.
I think maybe the nicest one (and very light) is the GTK Revived theme. It makes Seamonkey match your system theme.

i read this thread through and decided to give the seamonkey update
a try. when i clicked on the link it took me some searching to find
a download of a tahrpup livecd with a $2.95 charge. i could not find
a standalone seamonkey. was i meant to d-l the tahrpup cd to try the
seamonkey it contains? where is the zip file to which the op refers?
i realise that things can change in six months and that stuff discussed
in march may be gone by august. any insights welcome, thanks. mm
