PostPosted: Tue 17 Mar 2015, 08:56    Post subject:  Pepper Flash Wrapper For Firefox and Palemoon
Subject description: [tahrpup]Pepper Flash-18.0.0.194 (x86)

As a reminder, the latest Adobe Flash Player versions are available on Linux only through Google Chrome, while other browsers are stuck with version 11.2.

The Adobe Flash Player plugin that's bundled with Google Chrome is in the form of a PPAPI (or Pepper Plugin API) plugin and Mozilla isn't interested in adding support for it.

That's why Rinat Ibragimov decided to create this wrapper so Firefox users can use the latest Pepper Flash from Google Chrome.

#####
1.If you have installed the adobe flash player please delete
2.download and install freshplayerplugin-0.2.3.pet
3. restart browser
4. you ready

it works on the tahrpup

Thank you for this. Much nicer than being stuck at Flash ver 11.

I suppose this should work ok with most browsers. I had success with Opera 12, Slimboat, Slimjet, Qupzilla, and QtWeb.

Just for a general info query what is to be gained from the newer flashplayers apart from being bigger and I assume more DRM/adverts and a false sense of security? 10.3 seems to keep sites I use happy.

I wonder..if this wrapper can fix compatibility it cannot be too hard for mozilla to do the same... anyone considered hacking a firefox build?
It would be one in the eye for this proprietry hijack by adobe/google.

hello mike.
yes now is bigger... (16252kb or 16mb > 14828kb 14.48mb)

I just got a package and, i did it to run, at tahrpup.
this does not mean that i am "hacker"! i am seven years, slacko user. Laughing

(i just d not like to add the lib /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 but without this lib i see my netbook crash browser every time.)

you can use this package if you want or you can use chrome/chromium!
your choice.

Use chromium?!... Very Happy

Anyway so nearly double the size and no obvious benefit...that's my main question.

libGL...would disabling acceleration help..either browser or flash.... probably not if its a hard dependancy.

Well nice one for getting past adobes/googles hurdle.... not exactly a nice thing for them to do to linux is it....basically forcing chromium on linux. Their agendas are so alternative you would need a degree in psychology to work it out Very Happy

Pepper Flash Wrapper For Firefox and Palemoon, frenchies tested it and it works generally, and for lot of browsers. That is a fact.
What about audio level ? it should need pulse audio, if you question the dependances tooL .
Merci en tout cas; It's always a good thing having a second mean if flashplayer gives up.

Yes I applaud the developer of this wrapper... quite an achievement.
Indeed it looks like pepper itself has many more possibilities for improving flash...hopefully the wrapper can take advantage ...eg 2D acceleration for example.

My query was more to do with the flash plugin and to what extent it has altered which is a little offtopic.

Ok onward and upward Smile
