You got it. Yes, the edit function does work and editing is my fall-back position, but messy to edit out secondary windows. Much easier if only the top window and Menu screen were captured.

Both TAS-1.9 (with delay) and PrintKey2 (untested) will capture fullscreen+Menu screen. Will Xscreenshot do more? Does Shift PrintKey before opening the Menu take a fullscreen +Menu or top window+Menu? M$ Windows refugees know that the PrintScreen fumction key captures the full screen but either Shift/Alt (don't remember) + PrintScreen fumction key takes only the top window in focus. If Xscreenshot does no more, then we have all 3 taking fullscreens, plus Screenie and others I expect. Choose your medicine.

Yes, but it is probably not what you're looking for. The main use case for Xscreenshot is for taking multiple screenshots in succession: press Printscreen to enter capture mode, then click mouse left-button (and hold), move mouse to select region to capture, release left-button (and image is capture). Repeat left-click/select/release to capture more, images, and press Printscreen again to leave capture mode. The Shift-Printscreen delayed capture is just a bonus - if you need to capture menus.

I don't remember Windows has Shift-Printscreen to capture single-window, but I left Windows a long time ago. Anyway Xscreenshot doesn't have single-window capture, if that's what you're looking for.

As above. If all you're looking for is fullscreen + menus, then yes it's medicine-picking time

666philb, any idea why PrintScreen does not work in 6.0.2?

print screen key working here on tahrpup, tried on 3 different computers all good.
it executes mtpaint -s , and immediately opens mtpaint with the capture.

for a more fancy screen capture app with hotkey settings try hotshots in quickpet

My comment was about 6.0.2 and the original PrintKey pet, not PrintKey2. It did not work. As the author acknowledged, his original code depended on ffmpeg which is not in tahrpup-6.0.2, In PrintKey2, he changed the dependency to aconv and then it worked. I have it capturing a fullscreen. now.

i meant that the 'print screen' key on the keyboard should already be set up to take a screen capture in tahrpup. ...no need for a pet

I don't recall PrintKey function key working in any puppy. I therefore did not expect it in tahrpup and I probably did not try it before initiating this thread. What I do know is that after installing the initial PrintKey pet in tahrpup-6.0.2, the keyboard PrintKey captured nothing.

Can someone confirm that OOTB, the PrintScreen function key in tahrpup-6.0.2 captures a fullscreen screenshot?

I don't know about tahrpup-6.0.2, but the original tahrpup-6.0CE, OOTB, with nothing added, starts PupSnap when you hit the PrtScr key. You can then click "Capture" and it immediately captures the full screen and starts mtPaint with the full-screen capture loaded.

Apologies to the guys for having to chase down a non-existent problem. If I had seen it as a tahrpup problem I would have posted the Q in the tahrpup-6.0.2 forum where it would have received 666philb's usually prompt response. The upside is that we now have/know several solutions.
