Offtopic:

Tabbed browsing can play tricks with your mind. I almost asked why this was in the Security section, but then I realized it actually in the misc section.

You mean the thread, right ? I'm sure you're getting this forum, otherwise you wouldn't be on it. (hehe)

In spite of it all the man is pro-State because he's got a gland by the same
name? (Getting it, now?) But you don't have to laugh.

The reason why I came back on it is also the reason why it will drive me mad at times. I sometimes forget that.

Its ok sanity has returned :) ...the quote about keeping ones head while all around ...etc

Yes the joke is a groaner.. now would you believe I don't even know who Richard Stallman is though I guess I will find out out of curiosity.

Linux world after Linux Torvalds...[/quote]

I'm sure he is probably known as Linux and maybe he wishes it were Linux but his name is Linus, lovely misquote!!

Thanks.

That should have been directed to me, not Mike... The corrector stands
corrected. ("Cobbler's daughter/son", etc.)

BFN.

Wow! How can someone just 34 posts short of 10000 on a Linux forum not know who Richard Stallman is?

Musher,
I'm not sure Stallman would agree on your priority of Linus over Richard! Not sure I do either. When I wrote up my acknowledgements to the Lin'N'Win'NewB Project I had:

Richard Stallman
For reminding us how software used to be developed before commercial enterprise decided to change it for their own purpose.

For evangelising a return to the old ways of software development.

For the GNU Project, without which Linux would just be a kernel.

Tim Berners Lee
For the World Wide Web that has enabled like minded people from around the world to work together in a manner that commercial enterprise cannot hope to emulate.

Linus Torsvald
For Linux, without which GNU would just be a set of utilities that ran on a disparate set of Unixes with no common base.

Klaus Knopper
For Knoppix, one of the first Linux Live CDs, and for the best hardware detection routines bar none.

If you asked me to name the main characters in the present govenment and its opposition I could probably not come up with any..I have a vague idea what the PM looks like.

I suppose i have no real relationship/connection with anyone who has no direct influence on my local enviroment and vice versa. I got the gist of what many of them do anyway.... so same merde different name stuff :D

Yes lots of posts... too busy being in the nitty gritty to worry about celebdom :)

Well now i recognize 3 names on your list .... :)

Jrg Schirottke
( Kano)
For Kanotix and his input to Knoppix - Because he had to make Knoppix better!

Barry Kauler
For thinking in a different way and developing Puppy, so that our older PCs do not have to go to the dump

Tinybit
For Grub for DOS - which enable Windows and Linux to come together

Gilles Ruymbeke
For pulling together many strands to produce the 'Poor Man's' or Frugal install for Knoppix.
And, most of all, God the Father through Jesus Christ, whom apart from His Will or allowance, none of the people and and products listed above would have ever happened.
