Subject description: New site maintainers ride into town.

Tuxtoo has rode off into the sunset in his poncho to new lands (I suspect the Dales) and in doing so has handed over the reins of the 412 collection to dave64 and myself in order to keep it alive and kicking.

As part of the changeover dave64 has been giving the site a thorough going over which has taken considerable time and effort while I have been lying around in the sun looking attractive.
All content has been checked and revised to get it up to date. We hope you like what you find.
There are also goodies in the sidelines waiting to be added.

Any comments, abuse, good jokes , material , suggestions and so on can be posted here or via the sites contact form.

Once again many thanks to tuxtoo who created all this in the first place to support those of us who like to keep our beloved machines running way longer than anyone intended Smile

Totally agree. I would like to see every pre-UEFI PC rendered capable of running 412. Surely there is some way to add modern device support to the old kernel?? Please say it's possible?? I definitely NEVER want to buy a UEFI PC.

Nice, I had a look at the new site. Quickly went through the applications, etc. to download and picked up on a few things. Dillo does support cookies, it's just disabled by default. One can enable it in the configuration file. I know this because one needs to enable it to access gmail (which is possible with dillo albeit with an extra few clicks). I also notice JRE 1.6 is available for download, I'm pretty sure I used an available JRE 1.7 SFS with Puppy 412.

yes I discovered that was the reason I could not login to sites and not a lack of full ssl support.

Java... well 1.6 is half the size I suppose...yet to find anything it does not work with myself though I am not a big user of it and I NEVER enable the web plugin. Also with limited room the aim is to focus on items that are most suitable or only for 412. Not to say that there won't be more added in the future.

thanks Fossil .. nice to see you around Smile

Just double checked my Java version. It's 1.6 afterall, just has some fancy numbers ie. 6u something. BTW - I remember spending quite a bit of time once to get gmail going with dillo. One needs to use the basic html version of gmail ( I also use the basic version with Opera Mini, loads quickly and all the options are available on one page). Just needs a bit of googling to get the correct address for the basic html site. Furthermore - there are quite a few enhancements/changes one can do to the default dillo by way of changes to the configuration file eg. changing colours/fonts in order how websites should display, etc. I explored this once upon a time and were quite impressed with what one can actually do with it. I don't use it now but the information may be useful to someone who does use it.

Ah goodly ......

as for Dillo...yes quite likeable after you get used to it and I have to play user agents and cryptic adresses using firefox sometimes so hey whats new.
If its just information you need it does the job nicely.

Oh, posted simultaneously again. Some more "useless information" for those who want to try dillo with Windows. It's called D+ and works well (pity development stopped). A smallish html only browser nevertheless so could be useful for some.

phew...you didn't see the thinly veiled morris dancer porn site hidden in a frame behind the banner....
dave64 is the shopkeeper...I just stand out the front wearing an advert board...

I just knew it was a mistake handing over all those login details to mikeb and dave64. Although I'm having difficulty accessing the morris dancer porn.
