ChangeOn-4

I just wrote this this evening. It uses yad to allow a selection of multiple wallpapers from 'backgrounds' dir, and it will cycle through them at your specified interval or every 30 seconds. Remembers selections across reboots until reset. commandline usage is :
changeon 15 = to start with 15 second interval
changeoff =to stop
changeon 20 reset =to reselect wallpapers and change at 20 second interval.

Also has desktop files for those functions.

So this is a little different to SFRs random Wallpaper changer (which i only just discovered when about to post this - nice gui!.)

The 'play' list is at /root/.wp so you can use my slocategui to create a list of image files from anywhere on your system, to play through, that opens in geany and just save as /root/.wp. Empty lines have already been catered for.

here is a video of desktop showing Change at work. This is Tahr I made in woof ce some time ago with kernel 4.0.1-32-pae. It's running really nicely, with all of my custom apps installed.

I have just re-written this script from scratch. I am now using rox SOAP method to change hi-res wallpapers much more quickly and smoothly. Same functionality but much more efficient code, and much less code! It is fast enough to approximate simple animation!

I will post after I have made the pet.

Here is a demo of sequenced wallpapers (just photos really). But you see the potential.

Using nice or renice I think that the frame rate can be pushed up to about 6 fps on my mediocre machine. Is there another way to get a priority higher than 60?

ok ok try this link

http://tinyurl.com/nbgdm9w

the reason it is 8.6mb is the high definition wallpapers included. Remove them and add your own. Even better create a sequence, either a journey, or a how to, or a pic blog or even cartoon and share with others to play on the desktop.

Maybe we can all agree on a package format such as seq_mountain-walk.lz4 and have the script auto load.

just an idea.

Did not see any mention in the opening thread, but, is this PET for both your 32bit EmSee and the 64bit ones as well?

Currently running 64bit
