Migrating Outlook Express user to Puppy

#1 Post by jhecht »

I just had a new client ask me to help him use his old Win XP computer better. He has more than enough RAM/CPU speed to convert it to Puppy Linux, but all his email is in Outlook Express (sigh). What's the easiest/best way to migrate him to Puppy?

Many thanks in advance for your help! :)

Haven't tried this fully myself, but if you install Mozilla Thunderbird in XP, it will import everything from LookOut Express. You *might* be able to then copy the Windows Thunderbird to Puppy Thunderbird.

Worth a shot

It's been a long, long time, but you should be able to save the Outlook Express stuff into files and then import it into Thunderbird. I'd test it on a USB stick and make sure it works before you get rid of the old Outlook Express installation.

Search, there is some stuff on the Mozilla site about how to do it.
