Re:Problem with UTC hardware clock?

In an earlier post I recounted difficulties when running lupu244 on a box where the RTC is set to UTC and I want to display the correct time in the Australia/Sydney timezone. I have since made a frugal installation after selecting the timezone and "UTC" in the GUI. On rebooting the display...

Problem with UTC hardware clock?

This time I am posting from a frugal installation of lupu 511.
I was able to get the correct local time display after using the tools found under the "Desktop" menu item.

cheers,
Ken

Problem with UTC hardware clock?

Today I tried Luci-244 running from the CD with pfix=ram and got the same or similar problem to that which I reported yesterday when trying Fluppy 009. The hardware clock on this computer runs on UTC and the timezone is Australia/Sydney. On bootup the clock initially shows UTC but when configured fr...

Problem with UTC hardware clock?

I tried out Fluppy 009 on this computer today. The hardware clock is set to UTC and the timezone to Australia/Sydney. I booted from the CD with pfix=ram and using the GUI selected the timezone and clicked the UTC box. After the "apply" or "OK" (I can't remember which) I restarted...

How to dual boot with XP?

This post describes a method of installing Puppy with the minimum disruption of your existing XP installation. In your case you don't need the Ubuntu partition etc. Unfortunately I won't have time to produce an edited version of those instructions for at least a week. Maybe someone else could step ...

SageLivePup Mathematic software powered by Puppy Linux

I downloaded SageLivePup08.iso (699 MB) from http://boxen.math.washington.edu/home/emil/ The md5sum of the downloaded iso image agreed with the in file md5.txt but Cds burnt from this iso image would not boot. The CDs contained the files boot.cat, boot.msg, initrd.gz, isolinux.cfg, pup_431.sfs, help...

ZTE MF627 USB modem not detected

I have used one of these on an ASUS 701SD. I can't remember which Puplet I was using but it was not Jemimah's latest Puppeee. In my case I inserted the device and waited until the CD icon appeared. In a terminal I did eject /dev/sr0 and waited a while until the led in the modem settled down and then...

UTC hwclock

As per the description. I now can boot into Puppy or Ubuntu without having to alter the clock even though the hardware clock is set to UTC :D

Oops! this was meant to go into the feedback regarding quirky 1.2rc

How can I modify Puppy to use a UTC hwclock ? (not solved)

A simple remaster using the inbuilt tool does not appear to solve the problem. (The changes to the three scripts did not appear to take.)

I guess I'll have to learn "Woof".

How should I modify Puppy 5.0 to use a hwclock set to UTC ?

If you are connected to a suitable network while installing Ubuntu the installer compares the time obtained from a time server with the hardware clock and sets the UTC variable accordingly. Otherwise the default setting is UTC=no as found on Windows boxes. The Unix tradition is to use UTC=yes but un...

How should I modify Puppy 5.0 to use a hwclock set to UTC

The hardware clock was already running on UTC and the Timezone was set to Australia/Sydney. I set the system clock via the desktop GUI tools and edited the three files mentioned in my previous post. I think I need to remaster the CD so that the files in the initrd are also altered. I will experiment...

How should I modify Puppy 5.0 to use a hwclock set to UTC ?

The hardware clock on this computer (running Ubuntu 10.4) is set to UTC. I have a directory /Puppy containing lupu-500.sfs and lupusave-ken.2fs I can reboot with a Puppy 5.0 but the displayed time is 10 hours behind because Puppy assumes that the hardware clock is running in local time. A thread by ...
