puppy says no but it does it anyway
Hi puppy trainers :-) Puppy keeps telling me that my DVD is write only, and then goes ahead and saves to the DVD anyway. When I reboot on the new DVD everything is fine and the changes have clearly been duly saved to the DVD. Is this just a puppy panic I should ignore? Kind regards David Please see ...

Slacko sees other wireless routers but not mine
Hi I have created a new slacko puppy (latest version) live CD and it works fine going online with ethernet on my old ethernet-enabled computer (PC). On my other (non-ethernet) computer (PC) it picks up various wifi options (through the USB TP Link) but those belong to people in other flats around me...

Hi Trio Yes, I realised on second run what I was doing wrong - I had omitted to click the Add Directory button after dragging the directory to the petmaker. (D'ohh!) However the directory extracted from the sfs file was so large that Puppy ran out of memory and crashed. I had already expanded Puppy'...

Hi Trio I did indeed attempt to make the pet from the folder after unzipping the tarball. No steps were omitted. I'll look at Beem's link - thanks Beem - and see if I fare better with the zip file there (wonder why it's a zip file instead of a tarball???) Additional note - Trio, I won't add the prob...

Hi Trio I've installed your petmaker (1.6) - many thanks - and ran it as suggested. No pet appears to have been created, but there were no notifications of any errors. I have to admit I have no clue as to how to check your points a to d - I just assumed that the tar.gz of open office 3.1 would alrea...

installing from tar.gz files and where to type
Hi all I know this has been covered in other threads, but I'm afraid I wasn't able to follow all the instructions because they mention things that don't appear to be accessible to me, so I'd be grateful for further clarification. (I'm back on "Puppy 4.20 Cielo plus 01" by the way, using CD...

Upgrade to new Puppy - will all the old settings be kept?
Hi all I have lots of questions, but I suppose I should ensure that I have the latest version before I go any further with such questions in case the new version of Puppy addresses them. I started off with the Puppy "Cielo base 01)" edition based on "Deep Thought" (4.20 with Open...

Hi Sage and others... Well I've given up for now as regards writing accented letters within online forms etc, but I've found a simpler way to do it in Open Office anyway - so I can paste from there to my online forms and email: I have set up autotexts for each accented letter (as retrieved from &quo...

accented letters
Hi I am a Puppy virgin (been using it for about a day! I love it. :-) However, there is one thing I would like to have - that is a simple method to get the system to recognize accented letters in the same way that Windows Word (control keys) or Windows notepad (ascii keys using the alt-key) do. The ...
