Hi, I have to apologize for this mess. I was off the grid for the first time in years (for about a week), FLASH and Barry knew about it, but given recent events I didn't want anyone to take advantage of my absence so I didn't let anyone else know. As with any perfect storm, for the first time in yea...

Good luck trying :) On a public forum, it's probably best to avoid power struggles to begin with. Accepting that there are dysfunctional people in the world seems to work much better. I really don't understand what you mean, where power struggles come in ? Just because we accept (and embrace) that ...

I'm curious...is there any hard evidence that people are damaged without protection & supervision? I've never heard of anyone dying from reading a distasteful comment. No, however, at the moment we do have people who would be dying to post distasteful comments and bring into disrepute anything ...

Certainly not to prevent anyone who is determined to view this topic area. It's useful for preventing regular users to not see this particular area unless they're logged in. That's about it :) There are a few benefits ... For me ... I feel that off-topic is important to the members of this communit...

"Truly off-topic" area now only for registered users

Hi,

The Truly off-topic" area is now not visible unless you are a registered user.

This is to prevent some of the abuse that has been occurring of late.

And considering that it is a place for regular forum users to interact I feel that the change makes sense.

And ANYTHING said on this forum can and is used by some to make a point in their favor. The problem with this is that only posts or parts of post are taken and thus the true meaning of the post or reply is lost. That's because that forum is about this forum ... Most of their content comes from here...

That is probably the potential ad revenue ...
They have no way of knowing how much we receive.
