It might be worth posting the output of iwconfig and ifconfig here. I'm not sure what the -650 is - is it a pcmcia card or USB adapter? Go into console mode and type iwconfig. If the driver loaded correctly, it should appear as ra0 or rausb0 or similar. If you can see something, type: ifconfig ra0 u...

Thanks for the replies. I'm not unduly concerned as it all seems to work normally. It's just different in 2.17.1 from all previous versions so something has changed. Maybe it is the kernal change that has done it. I also notice that the red activity monitor now idles at about the half way point, whe...

Disappearing Memory with 2.17.1
Running as multi-session with no hard drive on a minimalist VIA EPIA5000. 768Mbyte RAM (512+256). On first boot up, the free memory indicator in the task bar shows about 480Mbyte (Puppy's running completely in RAM). But, saving settings back to the CD-R & rebooting now shows only 285Mbyte free -...

Yes. Use the burniso2cd utility contained in Puppy (multimedia programme group). You'll need a copy of the .iso file somewhere on your system. It can be on removable media i.e. USB stick. Especially for multisession, this (or cdrecord from the console) is the most reliable way of burning a puppy-com...

2.17.1 Wireless - D-Link DWL-G122 rev B1 [solved]
Hi Puppy fans, With Puppy 2.17.1, I think I'm even closer to getting wireless working - driver installs, network scan finds my wireless router, dhcp says successful, but still no internet access. The details: PC EPIA VIA 5000 Puppy 2.17.1 CD multisession D-Link DWL-G122 ver. B1 (ralink 2570 chipset)...

I upgrade by burning the new iso on blank CD-R (ensure you burn it as multisession). Boot up on your current version, swap the CDs over, then shut down. Puppy recognises you have an upgraded version and will automatically transfer your settings when it saves. Ignore error messages as the script is a...

The link(s) above seem to refer to a page in the wiki that has not yet been created. Did it disappear? An idiot's guide to setting up wine in puppy would be really useful. I have a number of windows programmes that simply don't exist in linux, so the ability to run them under linux would be really v...

I think that's going to be a problem. The reason it shows up as an unknown device is because no driver is installed for the Bluetooth dongle. You basically need the Linux equivalent of the Windows driver CD that came with the dongle. Unless there happens to be a Linux driver available, I don't think...

To switch the clock display to 24 hour format, you need to edit the .jwmrc-tray file: Open the file manager at /root (Just clicking on the home icon does this) Ensure the show/hide hidden files option is set to show hidden files Click on .jwmrc-tray (This will open the file) Near the bottom of the f...

You'll have to give us a clue! What is your ADSL modem? Does it connect to the PC via USB or ethernet? Some details of the PC might also be useful. If it's a USB ADSL modem, there may be issues with driver compatibility. If there's an ethernet connection to the modem (LAN cable), it should be easier...

I have also had many frustrations getting wireless to work with Linux. Having one or two 'known to work out of the box' wireless cards would be a tremendous boost for Puppy. The choice is always going to be hard, but I would go for a USB dongle, available World Wide. D-Link has been mentioned earlie...
