Time display, how to get 24 hours display

#1 Post by Béèm »

Whatever locale, set date/time I try, I still have the hh:mm AM/PM format.
Is there no way to change to 24 hour format?

If you are referring to JWM

You just need to modify one line in the JWM configuration file. In puppy that file is /root/.jwmrc-tray

The JWM Configuration has a Clock tag under the Tray. You can include a format attribute with the same syntax as the strftime function

e.g.

Code: Select all

<Clock format="%H:%M">miniXcal</Clock>

Thank you both.

@iang, Have missed your answer in the other thread.

Suggestion 1:
This kind of probably commonly asked information would have a good place in a sticky 'how to' thread or faq page.

Suggestion 2:
Why not include this setting in the 'set date/time' function?

It's on Flash's Beginner's sticky: http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?p=2966#2966

Ah, you checked before I posted. Oh well.

I read all the new posts at once in separate tabs. I read this one, hit reply, opened a new tab at the main page with the intention of hopping in to see if Flash's sticky had it, and continued reading the next tab in line. By the time I got back to Flash's sticky it had been a bit, but I didn't realize it had taken so long. Usually if I take a while to reply I check to see if anyone already has first.

Besides, mine actually links to the sticky.

How do you do that to display all new posts in separate tabs?
If I'd do that, I would need many times 50 tabs or more on my 15" CRT display and I think I can't display that.

I just let the headings come in the first tab and work from there.

I go to the forum index and middle-click all topics with an orange icon. Then I go through those tabs and middle-click the treads with orange icons.

As for how many tabs, lets just say I'm on 1280x1024 and I've had more tabs than will fit on many occasions. In general, though, I "only" hit around 20-30 on my first visit of the day. I try to come by at least twice more before I go to sleep, but it's usually more like seven. If I miss a day it gets messy fast.

I've rarely crashed Firefox and it was usually not while using the forums. I've used Opera for this too a couple times, but I haven't used it long-term enough to brag on its stability. Firefox, on the other hand, I've been abusing like this for years. Until this summer it was on a 450MHz machine with 256MB RAM also, so you can't blame it on high resources. It's all Puppy and Firefox.
