Re: Modem driver misbehavior - slusb, slamr, hsfmodem

Now the bad news. The above drivers fail as follows: 1. hsfmodem (hsfpcibasic2) - locks up the computer while starting a connection. This is the hybrid version, so I plan to compile and try the "full" version to isolate the problem, somewhat. 2. slamr - For a built-in (8086:2486) modem, w...

This message posted from WARY 098 installed on a DVD/RW :) --...

glenco, Did you also do a CHOOSE > ERASE in pupdial after installing "-4"? This is necessary to activate the fix for the PcTels. Then reboot to see the effect. Do this even if no modem is shown as detected. Richard Well rerwin I have good news and I have bad news. LOL The good news is pro...

I am running on puppy 4.2.1
Nothing has worked with anything above this point!!!!!!
I think Barry knows this and this is the reason for him recompiling a new/old kernel.
DON'T under estimated that old boy!

@Iguleder Your flavors of puppy 4.* look very interesting to me but before downloading on my dialup at the best 5.4 Kbs I must ask. Which flavors still have Lucent PCI winmodem support? the retro? the retro-retro? And with that asked. Are you going to check out Barry's new 2.6.27.47: retro kernel th...

I would think that there is a way for John M to set up a sub forum for developers that is private in the same way it is done in my old vBulletin. Even Flash would lnow about this to some degree.

This may sound kinda stupid but why not try a private Yahoo group. It beats the hell out of IRC.
At least it did back in my very early years on ebay when things needed to be kept private.

I'm downloaded and installed 362 on a usb stick. Everything went fine setting up my winmodem (ttySM0) until I tried to dial and this popped up.

Hi Has Puppy 5 quit supporting win-modems? My pci lucent/agere winmodem is not found in Lucid 5 and after having a look in /dev I can't find any of the old win-modems that have worked in puppy since puppy 2.17 or something like that. Lupu and Quirky are using the 2.6.33.2 kernel, and so far I haven...
