Because the moderators were kind enough to allow the post about Trusted Computing -- which the authors of that site make clear it is about the big techies saying, 'Trust Us,' which has rolled over to the social networks FB, Twit, et al, more than it ever was making computing however secure, find som...

GOOG telegraphed they were up to evil when they made 'Don't be evil' its motto; I mean, please, who couldn't figure that out? As I wrote it seems long ago, GOOG from it's beginning was ANTI-American, 1st&2nd amend, Christian, human, & privacy. Here's something most people don't know: GOOG's ...

DOS & other dos

@rockedge Until recently Quattro 5.5 and Pacioli were used on a pre IDE HD MSFT DOS machine, which hd ran slower than today's CD/DVD drives. When it bought the farm dug out an old XP machine to run the above and it's still going strong. It's the machine I used a remastered Precise CD on. Also use a ...

Another illustration why one should keep programs that work until something better comes along (which proves there's nothing better or faster than a DOS to get work done--OS updates were just for pics/vid, and since 2000 most OS updates are not for the user's bennie). The only Pup that ever produced...

Legacy add-ons site

Find here http://legacycollector.org/firefox-addons/ from Aaapptabs to Zybez RuneScape Help Official Toolbar . . . so, a lot. QuickJava is there too. Something obvious but often unnoticed: if it installs, works, & you like it -- keep it. This goes for more than extensions, but add-ons is what we...

Boot dir of Save File

Xenial, & now Bionic, Pup has changed where they will ID Save Files. They must be C:\. Previously I always made a dir for each Puppy -- C:\Macpup, C:\Slacko57, C;\Tahr64, & so on to keep things neat. Some Puppies, I'm remembering Lucid, would just drill down until it found a save file. Slack...

The Beauty of Linux

Here I am in MacPup 511 & gonna paste in PM, but right now using FF45 as it will not update past that. Enlightenment is just so pretty & so muscular it does what many a WM cannot. 511 was my favortie, but 528 & 529 close. Did not like 550. GOTO http://macpup.org/ to see the MacPups. For ...

As an addendum to using PM in BioPup this illustrates a grand thing about Pups and the ability to save save files. I save my files on nerdsticks and if anything goes wrong I just delete and paste the saved .4fs. I have even pasted save files from one computer to another with no problems. For those w...

Using PaleMoon in BionicPup.

I really like PM for it can do some the things for which I truly liked Opera 12; but O 12 is now so long in the tooth that it will not play video junks, and some pages don't load properly -- but I have got round that by enabling all security protocols in preferences. Be that as it may, if you have a...

Keyboards

My experience with keyboards and Linux -- any Linux; the more expensive the keyboard the less likely it was to work well with any Linux. Top of the line Logitech was very nice and comfortable, but only fully worked with WinX -- which it generally states right on the box. Whereas every $5 $10 keyboar...

That is a good idea. However, you end up with an edited ISO with the modeset line in the boot sequence, and I have found that can make SOME computers behave erratically. Whereas if the modeset is inserted to the GRUB multibooter, one need put it where it is needed---into this 4GB nerdstick multiboot...

Took Puppy 5.3.3 Lili persistent boot stick & deleted all boot info, but left the 2fs file & personal dir. Installed Puppy 5.4 opera-PAE with USB Pendrive. Boot to black on Intel laptop. Normal boot to live RAM on AMD64 laptop--everything worked beautiful--no save file. Normal boot to proper...

All HP Kayak workstations support 1GB of ECC SDRAM & at least 2GB of ECC registered SDRAM. Be that as it may, original post states that computer checks and ID's the 2GB of Reg RAM when installed; it's just the Puppies that do not. On another note concerning Ubuntu: it booted with the Reg RAM ins...

RAM not ID'ed fully

I just can't part with this HP Kayak workstation. It's got a PIIXeon 400Mhz chip, and its brother rests on a shelf. HD's are SCSI. It's always had 512MB of RAM. Puppies and DSL are the Linuxes that will run the Kayak--Ubuntu will not. I've been using flexxxpup [dice] with Opera, and Macpup with Oper...
