Skypeforlinux installation problems (SOLVED)

Hello all - I'm trying to install this package on Bionic 64bit. Quickpet takes you to Skype website so I downloaded the Debian package. It appeared to install OK although it did report it had no menu entry but I can live with that. However when I launched it from the terminal it reported the followi...

@Mike:- Well theirs good news and bad news. I installed 'Stretch' as you suggested and viola, it streams using HTML5, the bad news is it's unusable. It keeps hanging up and the CPU is running flat out, I guess HTML5 is more resource hungry than Flash. It looks like my 15year old Lappie (you thought ...

When I try to stream from Iplayer it sit their for a while then comes up with 1 of 2 messages either 1 'prompting me to install Flash' or 2 'telling me that the content isn't working please try again later' well something like that. It seems you went down the same path as me Mike as I also updated f...

Mike - were you streaming using Flash or HTML5?

Mercedes350se - my 32 bit machine is a bit low spec so I think it might struggle with Bionic, it struggles a bit using Tahr.
I will try Seamonkey though

Both browsers are the same issue (latest) although as I stated the none working one is 32bit. The reason I use Palemoon is it's the default browser for both versions of Puppy. I tried Firefox Quantum in the 32bit version and that exhibits the same problem which makes me wonder if there is a problem ...

32-bit Palemoon won't stream BBC iplayer

I'm running Bionicpup 64bit on my main machine and Palemoon streams BBC iplayer even though Flashplayer isn't installed. However on my lesser machine I'm running Tahrpup 32 bit and Palemoon will not stream iplayer unless Flashplayer is installed. However I have got to sort out the 32 bit machine as ...

Thanks for the info bigpup, certainly given me a lot to think about. Wine is emulating the correct version of Windows (XP). One thing that worried me when I looked aruond Wine HQ is the following warning:- NEVER run Wine as root! Doing so gives Windows programs (and viruses) full access to your comp...

How to use K150 Microchip PIC programmer in Tahrpup?

Hi, I'm trying to get a K150 Microchip PIC programmer running in Tahrpup 6 (32 bit version). The software with it is very old and is written for COM ports however their is a driver provided that links it to USB. You have to look in Windoze device manager to find the port number. The software runs OK...

Thunderbird crashes when adding an attachment

Hi all, I'm running Xenialpup 64.7.5 and latest Thunderbird version 68.3.1. When I attempt to add an attachment Thunderbird completely hangs and I have to kill it via Htop. I've run in safe mode but still the same. However I have Thunderbird 68.3.1 on another machine running Tahrpup 64 bit and it is...

I downloaded the 64 bit deb package from the Comodo website and installed it on my 64 bit machine running tahrpup 64. It ran 'out of the box' and the virus database updated OK as stated in previous posts. I then downloaded the 32 bit deb package and installed it on my 32 bit machine (the one I could...

Hi Mike, thanks for replying to my post. Would you recommend a 'lightweight' Pup that I can install that will run the updater, at least using this approach I will have an on demand virus checker. I have two Pups currently installed, Tahrpup and Precise 5.7.1. both frugal installs, both exhibit the s...

You were quite right 6502coder. I upgraded from Tahrpup32 to tahrpup64 about 8 weeks ago and obviously haven't used PG since then. I looked at the file Properties in ROX prior to reading your latest post and the Contents Indicated ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version. It was then that the...

6502coder - when I enter the command you suggested the following is displayed:-
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3712344 Apr 4 2013 /mnt/sdf1/software/linux/gorilla1537.bin.

The way I execute Password Gorilla is to navigate to it using ROX then click on the .bin file.
