str4y It matters not to me whether people test anything I put out or not, I do it for myself and share with others if they want to try it. Encryption doesn't really do anything for you at all anymore when it comes to most service providers due to methods that have come out to detect bit-torrent tra...

No hiding BT, sorry. But Transmission has encryption...
There is a way to easily encrypt and hide torrent transmissions, unfortunately you cannot do it with Transmission as far as I know however I intentionally left the bit-torrent client in PuppyCrypt unsecured in order to divert illegal intentions. Um, not to discourage folks from coming up with Puppy...

That's great news for you blokes across the pond. I was amazed the first time I visited stallman.org, how totally similar his politics are to mine. (BTW: know any Wall St. Occupiers? While thanking them, do remind them that to some degree they're trying to re-invent the wheel.. 20+ years ago the Gre...

do you have a suspend button?
any suggestions? I only recently discovered this thread, having gotten joy as far as suspending my Dell D600-series laptop by way of pemasu's laptop001.pet .. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=484993#484993 .. but the bulk of that .pet is Frisbee, which I found clunky and unneeded si...

updated-- way better now
@vanchutr Not sure.. gonna have to look into what all Amarok uses. (I used to use it, before I found something else to handle my used iPod I bought. I ranted on about it in essentially a hardware review.. find it in the gtkPod thread somewhere.) Also: cdrdao now up-to-date. @Flash I searched around,...

addressing issues, more testing needed
@8bit Good point-- yes, as I somewhat feebly tried to warn in the release posting, it's not finding that mimetype (even though it finds it on my old 525 frugal, which confuses me.).. but it seems perhaps you've found that by hitting spacebar ("OK" button) 5 times, all those complaints are ...

Have you noticed the Hosts for Large Files thread? @Flash - Just what I needed. Things have been too hectic IRL to even make time to adequately peruse the fine forum. You da man! I went with the quick-n-dirtiest, practically-prods-folks-to-not-read-the-ToS, all-entangled-with-vile-Google-javascript...

k3b-1.0.5-13 in a RtG .sfs for 528 AND Slacko RC
1st off, please accept my apologies for the hiatus-- I'd sure wished to be able to devote more time to working on Puppy. The good news: here now, comes the .SFS of k3b 1.0.5, (sub-numbered 13 as per the Scientific Linux .rpm) now once again a SELF-CONTAINED workable solution, as I've combined the ol...

k3b en route
I don't recall X ever freezing after I burned a DVD with Pburn. If it happened to me, it must have been a while ago. Is there a .pet of another Blu-Ray burning program such as k3b that I could compare to Pburn? Actually the only thing I ever used Pburn for was to burn DVD's... only because I've onl...

.k3b files
What do the .k3b files consist of? Hey plinej, thanks for the great updatings.. I've been way distracted and just got back to this thread. .ape and .shn -- nice! The .k3b files are just a .zip with two files, maindata.xml and mimetype .. here's a audio CD example-- I'll attach a data one shortly..

As whined about before by me, (probably in too annoying  a fashion), I find disconcerting the fact that the gnome-mplayer binary, out of the box, phones in to Amazon and tells them what local mp3 file you're playing off your HD in order to pull up what it thinks is the right Album Art. So I ha...

SOLVED
Thanks for the response bigpup! I actually posted somewhat in haste and frustration.. I was accessing some wifi outside at the time, and when I decided to check over on a weather page just how hot it was, it was pushing 105degrees Farenheit! Should've waited until a cooler head could prevail. When m...

If you install your tor browser (I suppose it's the tor browser bundle) in /root/spot, and then in a terminal in that directory change ownership of the tor browser-files by running chown -R spot:spot ./* , you can then start your tor browser as restricted user spot by, for example, issuing (in /roo...

Lucid 528 Seamonkey update produces Bus Error
Context: pretty danged fresh frugal 528 install.. only running a couple days now.. haven't even overflowed the savefile yet. (But closing in fast!) okay, forgot I was running from a sfs-load'ed .sfs of it, and while in Seamonkey clicked Help > Update To 2.0.14 .. of course didnt offer where to stick...

Anyone have a how-to for this? Thanks oodles. Its actually pretty simple. Move /usr/lib/seamonkey (firefox), to /mnt/home, and symlink it back again. No need for sfs. In fact I'm now working with a fresh savefile on 528, and it's already down to 89M free from the original 128M, with practically not...
