Puppy should not be packaged (without a warning) with automatic FF updates enabled :( When I'm not even intending on saving my session, why should FF be allowed to effectively and klandestinely steal expensive bandwidth every time puppy (live ro-media or pfix=ram) is fired up? :? And it's not just m...

I found FF had self initiated an update. If this behind my back doings is going to be the new paradigm, I'm done with it. Is this right?

Trying to remount non-removeable-based (actually in an extended partition) squash-fs generates error, as fs must still be flagged as mounted. Perhaps just a general clearing on reboot would suffice, rather than a remount or choice--X offers a choice to rerun wizard. How are the other various fs hand...

I explicitly set FF dir in /etc/profile and seem to have reduced delay by 2min:44sec or greater while processing it. Odd that on one occasion of 'find' I didn't get any delay. Console FF 'find' works fine. Before (and now) upon boot there was (is) no apparent delay between jwm icons display and proc...

I've traced my hang to /etc/profile line 50: FIREFOX=$(find /usr/lib -type d -name firefox-*|tail -1) #slacko This assignment, I presume the 'find' directive is the culprit, consumes 2min:44sec or more when executed after setup for PUPMODE=12. Is profile run twice, I didn't trap for repeats? Is ther...

Thank you mike for getting me back on track. This lappy is so sluggish in PUPMODE=12 that I had neglected to wait the minutes required for ~/Startup scripts to run--they do run on X restarts, I knew that! I deleted the modified .xinitrc and its .wh. and I've regained a sense of sanity. However, the ...

X server restart scripts--where do I put them?
My Startup directory contains a 'xrandr --output LVDS --brightness 0.3' script. Brightness is reset to 1.0 on menu 'Restart X server'. How can I make brightness sticky? Where/what is the proper X profile for user/local use and I presume other (xrandr) directives?

Problems with frugal spup55-4G in Sony VAIO
I'm using a frugal spup55-4G. I've found that upup's out-of-the-box xrandr breaks on some hardware and it's bothersome to have to resort to OLD-xrandr. I dont know exactly where these, my features/challenges, belong. I have a VAIO VGN-A290(UC) BIOS R0080F1 09/28/2004 with a nice 1920x1200 LCD, mostl...

5.4.1 / 5.4.2 help.msg
In / directory help.msg , I believe the line after "Examples:", puppy acpi=off pfix=fr Ignore ACPI, French keyboard layout. should be, puppy acpi=off pkeys=fr Ignore ACPI, French keyboard layout. It appears that a keyboard language code may be initiated by appending (or comma appending) it...

Precise 5.4.1 /usr/local/simple_network_setup/sns
Proposed changes shown from line 408 (I don't even live in a crowded/urban wireless area). Idk about any wired connections window problem. This may just be a work around for some gtkdialog problem--please investigate. export WIN2_DLG="<window title=\"$(gettext 'Simple Network Setup')\"...
