I am running Puppy 5.7.0 I assume you are using Slacko 5.7 Firefox is built into it and really can not be removed unless you did a full install to a hard drive or SSD. Just not use it and forget it. All you can do is hide it by using the Remove Builtin packages. It will look like it is removed. The...

I think the usb got corrupted, so I formatted and reinstalled Puppy. I saved slacksave.2fs first and then copied it to the new installation, so I have not lost any data. Firefox continues to crash, so I installed Chrome and hope that that will stop the crashes. Is it possible to remove Firefox altog...

Alex, any reason you chose to abandon your other thread ? My guess is Slacko doesn't like your hardware. I thought it came to the end without specific solution. Anyway, this seems a different problem. Previously, I just rebooted after the crash and it worked OK. This time rebooting just brings up t...

Firefox crashing in Puppy 5.7.0
Hi, I am running Puppy 5.7.0 off an USB drive and Firefox crashes at least once a day. It works again once I reboot, but all the work is lost. Is this a common problem and is there a way to correct the fault. For instance, is uninstalling firefox and installing chrome instead a possible solution? Ma...

The sub Stick is checked automatically every time I use it and then go into Windows. I tried to defrag. but the response was that it did not need it. Anyway, Puppy crashed and I could not recover the screen display, so I formatted the usb and re-installed Puppy. It works better now, but it is still ...

For our printer my router lets me assign a fixed ip to it which solves the problem...you might have that option. If your router and printer are never turned off that should also keep the ip ..saves ink too :) Perhaps the scanner software scans for the hardware..... cups does too for adding the prin...

Printer lpd changes, losing connection
Hi Guys, I am running Puppy 3.7.0 off an USB stick and I have a Epson Stylus Office BX535W printer/scanner which is connected via WiFi. The lpd address is 192.168.1.140:515PASSTHRU and the last line in epson2.config reads "net autodiscovery". For some unknown reason the lpd address changes...

Just for a note..imap would mean th e profile would remain a few hundred k so simply having the same profile without sharing keeps space usage to a minimum since the server becomes your common source... assuming the non downloaded IMAP config is used...indeed its designed with this in mind. mike Mi...

Can you help? Yes. Follow the instructions in this post. , and also read the posts after this, Wow! That worked. I needed to keep emails on the USB stick, because the main purpose of running Puppy is to have a completely transportable OS that I could plug in and use on any computer. So I made a dir...

Logoff takes different times in different USB sticks
I am running Puppy on 2 usb sticks created from the same ISO file on Windows. I used Rufus to create bootable usb sticks. One of the usb sticks is 4GB and the other 8GB, but they are identical in every other way. The larger USB stick (8GB) takes nearly 3 minutes to save to Slackosave and log off, wh...
