Hi, No luck as yet getting the scanner running in Puppy but the printer itself is fine. I have downloaded the Canon scangear driver and run the appropriate command in the terminal but, so far, no luck. However, this is not a problem for me, it was the printer I really needed to work so I am happy. T...

Hi, I am running a frugal installation of Puppy Precise 5.7.1 in a dual boot setup with Windows XP (the latter disconnected from the internet). I have successfully used my previous Canon Pixma IP4300 printer with Puppy on the computer and indeed with other Puppy operating systems on live discs. Unfo...

CONFIRMATION:
Belatedly I confirm this has been resolved. Apologies to all concerned but other matters occupied my mind and I lost track of things a bit.
Thanks to Makoto and especially Flash for sorting this out for me. My account is working perfectly.
Cheers and regards.

Hi Bigpup, Thanks for your detailed explanation re; running e2fsck. I booted the system from the OB-Precise CD pressing F2. Once I realised I needed to download the e2fsck package I was able to run the command successfully. Unfortunately it didn't resolve the issue but you suspected that might be th...

Hi, I've resolved the issue having had a moment of memory return. I remembered it was something to do with the Event Manager so searched for 'eventmanager' with pfind to find two files. The one I required was 'eventmanager' in /etc/ . I opened the file using the right click menu method and chose 'Op...

Hi' I am running Puppy Precise 5.7.1 in a dual boot setup with Windows XP (the latter being disconnected from the internet). I have installed the Openbox window manager with Tint2. The panel is set at the bottom of the desktop but obscures part of the drive icons and their labels. I am now trying to...

Hi rcrsn51, I didn't do an actual clean install but did the following: - I booted the computer using my live Puppy OB-Precise CD; - I navigated to the Puppy Precise save file in the Puppy Precise partition and added 'XX' to its extension so the file would not be recognized at the next Puppy Precise ...

UPDATE: Hi rcrsn51, I don't know if this is significant but I have carried out another experiment. I have an external SATA drive linked to the same computer via an ESATA rear port. It is also formatted NTFS and previously has worked with Puppy Precise. I decided to try it again today and it failed t...

Hi rcrsn51, Thanks for your continued support. I tried your suggestions but they didn't work however they may have provided another clue to the problem. I have noticed that both sdf and sdf1 disappear from /dev once the external usb drive is connected. I put them back by first unmounting and removin...

UPDATE: Hi rcrsn51, Thanks for your quick reply and your suggestion. However I had already tried what you have suggested as I had come across the problem once before. That time the error was indeed caused by a file left in the allocated drive and removing resolved the issue. This time there ere are ...

Hi, I've got into a bit of a mess with an old account which I cannot access. I think it contains the email address I would like to use on my newly registered account but of course I cannot use an already registered address. I say 'think' because I have not been able to open that account as the passw...
