a neverending tale of a puppy ... and his computer
Hello! Just a bit here and there. Puppy could use a better partition utility: either add a gui to parted or update gparted. Add the option in MUT to switch to completely running in ram. And other unimportant stuff pay no heed, just writing these suggestions down before I forget them. It's a WISH-lis...

Too Many SFS
I have been reading many threads explaining how to prevent puppy from loading certain sfs into ram. Then the sfs will be read off the media - slower, true, but the user gains more ram. If you have a swap partition, then after boot puppy will do some memory management, and most likely major contents ...

Hey, good idea, you can just overwrite the puppy_214.sfs instead of reburning. Also a script at shutdown asking if you want to save your 'session' was more along the lines of what I was going for. (like the first time you poweroff puppy) I think saving at shutdown happens b/c at shutoff I see these ...

3 varied bugs, 2.14
I do not know if these are bugs with 2.14 or not, but here goes: swapoff using MUT takes no more than thirty seconds. Swapoff at shutdown takes much more time. Unmounting in MUT sometimes (very rarely) crashes puppy. Usually when I unmount the media I booted from (though not always) even though I ru...

Unfortunately, this does not work eth0mode in /etc re-appears after boot. So do dhcpcd-eth0.chache, dhcpcd-eth0.info and dhcpcd-eth0.pid in /etc/dhcpc However, files in /root were successfully deleted. strange I am using puppy 2.14, I think that version got rid of .wh files: is there then a text fil...

Hey! A game
Saw this on some other forum, thought it might be an interesting idea. (if you want to kill time)
Here's how it works: chose one of the choices, leave two of your own.
Compiz or Beryl?

I haven't much expeience either, but if above does not work consider (in addition to just extracting the files from the iso): 1) setting your partition bootable. You can either format two partitions on the drive, one for files and one for puppy, or just keep one partition (more confusing) for puppy....

the firewall is as safe as you make it, itll block the ports you want closed. For transactions I think the only ports youll need open are the ssl and the http ports, unless you use a proxy. Also a firewall only blocks viruses, etc from your computer; you're unlikely to get those from secure bank sit...

Remastering merges pup_214.sfs and pup_save.sfs. Therefore it is not a true duplicate and you must be careful using it when you switch hardware. However, it does come with the option to remove any hardware configurations; this though might erase any other configurations you've made such as xinitrc, ...

what remastering does to your ethernet configuration
Hello! I remastered puppy 2.14 to cd as backup with all of my specific computer's configurations (simple copy option). Unfortunately I had to use this backup to reinstall to usb drive and then switch computers. The original computer has eth0, while the new only has eth1 (wireless). Now every time I ...
