The concept I wish to convey is the difference between: booting from and booting to Bruce Many thanks for theses precise things Now I've correctly partitioned my scsi drive, and with live DSL CD now I can save config files and others ones; so it can be used without trouble. Later, quietly, I'll go ...

For Bruce : many thanks, your advice was the right one, cfdisk -z worked fine I tried to install DSL on partitioned SCSI drive; all went right, with my partitions sda1 and 3 seen But toward the end, I've seen several messages like "unable to mount /sda" (sorry, no screen capture; I can cat...

i'm already enthusiastic about Puppy, used on my home (IDE HD) PC. but now I want to do working this old SCSI HD computer for a relative. i've tried storing save_pup file on a FAT32 partition, instead a linux one : not better. (and for nic2109' idea: the computer has not USB port) before Puppy I tri...

I'd thought about that, but the CD device is only a reader, and I would avoid further possible config problems with a writer on this old enough computer.
Anyway I keep your idea in mind if no found solution with SCSI

Toutou: SCSI config files are not found when booting

I want to run Puppy 3 (its french version "Toutou") on a HP Vectra with IDE CD, SCSI HD (2 GB), and 160 MB RAM; no USB. Puppy is running well with live CD, after booting on floppy ; I can store pup_save files on the SCSI drive (Linux partitions)...BUT there's a big problem : during the fol...

yes, hda1 was a dos partition, done with a former "classic" win XP installation. It's after my attempts to clean the partition, using Puppy live CD, that I've surely done an awkward thing on it. But I've never decided on this PC to format the drive or mount linux partitions. I'll take more...

HairyWill, any help is welcome !! - I'd typed mke2fs -n - "before you ran mke2fs what format was hda1" ??? sorry, I don't understand; hda 1 is always in the same state : ext2 When I run the puppy live CD in ram only, the drive can be mount and unmount, but I don't see my old files better. ...

thanks for the advice; but in the drives icon the NTFS partition is "grey - red", so I cannot mount or unmount it. I can only see the files I've made on it from Linux To be more precise : before moving to Linux (a choice I don't regret at all :-) ) the drive had two partitions , one for Wi...

files on hard disk cannot be found after using mke2fs

Hello, - I had WinXP on a IDE disk - I'm working a Puppy Linux live CD , with settings on the hard disk - Linux had difficulties to read and store settings on the hard disk: "bad blocks"..., "you would use mke2fs", a.s.o. - so I've worked mke2fs: "# mke2fs -n /dev/hda1"...
