Hm, I didn't know java was open source now.

i tried it awhile ago, but it didn't really click with me. Maybe I'll take another crack at it, thanks.

I'd still like to know if what I described is feasible, in case things don't work out with java.

Advice needed about possible open source project

My experience with programming is primarily limited to interpreted languages, so I don't know very much about some of the technologies that would be necessary for this project. I've become accustomed to working in flash, but I've grown dissatisfied with it. The main problems are that it's proprietar...

Great, I'll give that a shot.

It looks like that would make things more complicated if I changed my mind about a save file in the future, but it would be trivial to make a new cd.

Thanks for the answer.

Thanks.

I suppose that's true, but it's not really an ideal solution, since I'd have to type it in every time, and if I miss the five second window I have to wait for it to boot up normally.

Stop searching for save files in sub-sub directories?

I want to make a remastered live cd that contains all the software I use regularly, and run this without a save file. I noticed that when I run without a save file, lupu 525 spends a moment searching for a file deeper in the directory structure/

Is there a script I can edit to disable this behavior?

Problem with ruby gem eventmachine

I don't normally work with ruby, but there's one specific program I want to run: transocks, so I can proxy my flash traffic. If anyone has an alternative for this need that's easier to install, I would appreciate it. I followed the instructions here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search...

Any good SQL IDEs? [solved]

I've been trying to design a database for a project I'm working on, but it's really slow going having to do everything through the console with bulky SQL queries. Is there an IDE that can speed up this process?

EDIT: Just learned about sqlbuddy and phpMyAdmin.

Update: I found that after running the xorg wizard a ServerLayout section will be added to xorg.conf. However, adding the lines hasn't solved my problem. The tablet still only functions like a mouse. Nothing related to the tablet shows up the the input device sections of either GIMP or mtpaint. Just...

Thanks, but it's just not there for me. Which version of puppy are you using? The closest thing I see is a section labeled "ServerFlags", which doesn't look anything like what you and others have quoted.

I installed the pets on page 12 and ran the commands. I opened xorg.conf and added Section "InputDevice" Driver "wacom" Identifier "stylus" Option "Device" "/dev/ttyS0" # SERIAL ONLY Option "Type" "stylus" EndSection Section "...

I just downloaded 5.2. I think I've been using 5.0.1. So far, it looks great, but I can't connect to the internet. I have an ethernet connection to my home network. Previously, I just needed to run the Internet Connection Wizard -> eth0 -> Auto DHCP and it worked fine. Now, although both Barry's Int...

It is, I followed ttuuxxx's instructions to add new mime types. And accidently wiped out all the default mime types in the process, but hey.

How? Like I said, what I set for .hx files extends to all "text/plain" files unless I follow the instructions in the link. How do you set run actions for extensions rather than mime types?

Well, for me it would parse .hx and .hxml files as "text/plain", so action I set for them would be applied to all plain text files, which I didn't want.

I found what I was looking for here.

Thanks for the response, Béèm, but that doesn't work unless rox recognizes the MIME type of the file. You may need to add it first.

Is it possible to add a new MIME type to rox? [solved]

I recently started installing some custom icons for the rox filer manager. I realized that rox is unable to recognize haxe source code (.hx) and compile parameter files (.hxml). I'd like to be able to have a special icon for each, and possibly set a run action for .hxml. Is it possible to add these ...
