4.3.1 Puppy CD Won't Run (Solved)
I am trying to use new puppy and boot keeps asking for 421 save file which was deleted. Pfix=ram command is ignored. Why doesn't 431 load in RAM? I'm about to give up and stay with 421 which works. Cd 431 won't run, just gives up after not finding files on HD. Help! I'm running the retro kernel beca...

New Seamonkey
I installed the new Seamonkey 1.1.7 and it is better. The problem is the Pet Package Manager doesn't uninstall the old version. (1.1.2) I am new to Puppy so I need some advice.
Thanks, metal1

The alsactl store or restore commands don't seem to work. Is there a possible fix for this? Thank you, this was my last try at repairing this problem.

Try running the sound wizard, sometimes that will fix it. Also be sure all your Alsamixer settings are unmuted with volume levels up.

Audigy 1 Platinum sound card: 3.01 starts with sound mute.
I have sound using Puppy 3.01 but at boot the ALSA settings always are muted. Is there no way to edit this setting? Have tried 3 or 4 suggestions but no luck. The emul10k1 driver seems to be the problem. It's default is to mute all the mixer settings. Thanks

Mixer
I am new to Puppy but I just set all the sliders to 100% and the sound is ok. Don't have much else to adjust I fear. Best of luck.

I have sound problems as well. I tried to run Puppy 3.1 with my new pc but the sound card crashes the pc. It has the on-board Soundmax sound card. My MB is the Asus k8V SE Deluxe. My old pc sound works with the add-on Audigy card but I have to start the sound in the Alsa mixer manually. Hope you get...

Sound Muted At Boot
I am using Puppy 3.0.1 and at boot when X starts, I have the mixer volumes muted. I understand this is a default with the ALSA driver, but why? Seems silly to have to reset at each restart. Wish there was a fix. Thanks

Files
Yes, I have the files and they work if clicked. Don't know what is wrong with the console. I have already tried the Sound Wizard. It says it is using the driver for my Audigy. Sounds works, just doesn't get initiated at startup. Thanks again.

Audio Mixer
My audio mixer settings are muted at startup. There is a red X on the taskbar on the mixer icon. I have to manually unmute the main and speaker columns and raise the volume. Not sure why this has happened it was fine initially. Thanks

Since I've tried these measures to fix the bark, my sound mixer starts up muted. Have to manually unmute and raise volume levels now. Maybe I should quit tinkering before I break this puppy. Thanks folks, for trying to help this newbie. :) PS- When I enter that text in a console, it says No Such Fil...

Sound
Since I've experimented trying to get the barks to work, now on boot my sound is muted. I have to go into the mixer and turn on main and speaker. Oh well, at least it doesn't crash like Windoze. Thanks

Tried all these, no dice. The -d2 killed my sound, had to edit it out. Will just live with a mute Puppy. Thanks for all the suggestions.

How to keep Puppy barking?
Know this question has been covered but have tried suggestions with no success. I am trying to enable sound file barks on boot and when X starts. Edited a few items but can't get this done. It worked until I upgraded to 3.1. Sound works fine that isn't the issue. My daughter comes running when the P...
