Bionicpup64 8.0 CE
Hi.
There's three similar menu entries which makes it hard to differ between
- Package Manager
- Bionic Pup QuickPet
- BionicPup Updates
In German Language there's something like
- Puppy Package Manager
- Puppy Packet Manager
- Puppy Packet Manager
May I suggest to change this to
- Puppy Package Manager
- Puppy QuickPet
- Puppy Updates
?
Thanks

Bionicpup64 7.9.7 CE beta
I updated the kernel of this install, first to 4.14.87 (processor was
working too hard I think) so changed kernel again to 4.9.144 and it
seems better.

Hi.
Like in 7.9.6 the tool-tips of drive icons showing 0,0G for size of each drive icon.
Like in 7.9.6 when running pmount from drive icons right-click action, pmount only lists the partitions of the clicked drive icon.
Like in 7.9.6 Pmount itself also shows 0,0G / 0,0G text info. The info shown by the colored bars seem to be ok.

Things I have tried to fix the qjacktctl bug:
I compiled Jack1 and Jack2, after removing the old packages. A few different versions. But Jack isn't the problem; Ardour runs Jack without issue, as do QT apps like Qtractor.
I compiled five different versions of Qjacktctl. All the same, desktop freezes. Except for one, which wouldn't freeze, but wouldn't load either.
One of the AppImage versions works - this one, I believe (not in front of computer). But the downside is that it doesn't read the audio card settings in /etc/asound.conf, so the Multiple Sound Card Wizard is useless. It makes running Jack more complicated and probably too difficult for some users.
The aforementioned Qjacktctl appimage is the only one that works that I tested, the other appimages didn't work either. I went through the files in the appimage, and manually (using PPM) reinstalled all the libraries in /lib (mostly qt related) but that did nothing, other than increase my savefile storage by a couple of gigs.
If only there was a way to make the Qjacktctl appimage read the audio configuration like it's supposed to. If I could solve this one problem, I'd have a working Qjacktctl pet package I could upload.

Anyone got a working version of Guvcview for Bionicpup64 7.9.7?
I tried using what is offered in PPM.
but I get a bunch of errors trying to run it.
Tried the pet that was made for Tahrpup64, but it wants to use older lib files that are not in Bionicpup64.

I installed it in bionicpup64 7.9.6 and it is working in the upgraded savefile in bionicpup64 7.9.7. PPM in bionicpup64 7.9.7 does not show dependencies anymore. Tested in a live session of bionicpup64 7.9.7.
quickpet update ....
sfsget fix, devx should now download
changed menu names for quickpet & updates .....ITSMERSH
chromium should now work from the PPM
qjackctl, qsynth & qsampler fixed .... these needed compiling with --disable-xunique

hi ITSMERSH,ITSMERSH wrote:Hi.
I'm still using 7.9.6 but I didn't download the 7.9.6 devx. Later I downloaded the 7.9.7 devx, but this has lots of dead symbolic links.
I tried to compile Xournal, but had to fix 3 of those dead symbolic links before my attempt of compiling Xournal was successful.
Is this caused by the devx itself or by the use of 7.9.6?
Thanks
if you mount a devx you'll see lots of broken links, however when loaded these links point to libs in the main puppy.sfs ... an old devx may have the links pointing to older libs which aren't there in the newer iso

Bionicpup64 7.9.7Like in 7.9.6 when running pmount from drive icons right-click action, pmount only lists the partitions of the clicked drive icon.
I see this.
If you right click on a desktop drive icon and select:
run pmount puppy drive mounter
Pmount opens and only shows that drive partition(s).
See attached image.
If you select refresh in Pmount, then it shows all the drives.
I kind of like this as a feature.

That pet works very well in Bionicpup64 7.9.7
That would be a good pet to have in the Bionicpup64 repository of pets.
