Note: Compiled without xdamage support.
Also, move xlock icon down, to above pupzip or conky will cover xlock icon.
For puppy3 nothing else is needed. For puppy 4 (dingo) libxcb and libidn are needed.

Thank you for your efforts. Conky works fine under Puppy 3.01. Using Puppy 4.0 Alpha1, Conky does not work. It appears a needed library is missing. Since Puppy 4.0 is still at the Alpha1 stage for testing. This is not a serious problem. I will check the operation of Conky when the next test version of Puppy 4.0 is released.
Here is the error message that occurs under Puppy 4.0 alpha1.
conky: error while loading shared Libraries: libidn.so.11: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

Just downloaded and tried by executing the two referenced commands by hand.
It sets in the upper right corner, but covers the cons which are there.
Is this normal?

yes, conky creates its own window at upper right hand of screen or else it will flicker alot. The xlock icon should be moved down or it will be repositioned on reboot, or if ezpup is installed, the icon(s) will have to be moved to another area of the desktop.
for rawpup type in ldd /usr/local/bin/conky in a terminal, that will list all required dependencies, for libidn here the package http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=5101 any of conkys dependencies should be found on linuxpackages or http://packages.slackware.it

4.0 Alpha1 doesn't have qiv. Does this mean that just the background setter will fail or conky as well?Wolf Pup wrote: needs qiv to work, puppy 3 has this.

I believe if you shutdown/logout xfce from the menu bar, it remembers what is open for the next start.
Open conky from the menu then click on the "quit" button on the bar. Choose log out, then at the prompt try xwin.

ok conky works fine on my computer if i run it from console , accept i do get that stupid battery error, guess its looking for laptop thing. Anyways i followed the instructions right and added this:
qiv -z /root/Choices/ROX-background.jpg
conky -d
that was to be added in the .xinitrc file which is located in root. I added it to the right line and saved it. Rebooted and the thing still dont start up automatically.. The instructions are not right for 3.01 puppy.

check in /tmp/xerrs.log and see of the following text is in there. If not, then check to see if the commands to start conky dont start with #'s.
