need printer drivers Canon MultiPass MPC400 for P431? |
|
My 80 year old neighbor asked me about this.
He lost his Win XP printing works in XP.
Best would be to find linux drivers but if that fails
then maybe one can use wine to print using the
xp drivers?
Unless this works maybe. I am not good at computers.
http://downloadnew.org/drivers/printer/canon-smartbase-mpc400-multipass-suite-92691.html
It says
| Quote: | Canon SmartBase MPC400 MultiPASS Suite Description
Software and drivers for your multifunction deviceSupported product(s) SmartBase MPC400
the OS that are available are
Unix, Linux, Linux Console, Linux Gnome, Linux GPL, |
Linux Gnome maybe that allow Upup or preferably Lupu 114 to print using something from ubuntu?
Typically I fail to download it and I only find the exe and that is for windows

Patriot made a bunch of drivers for the Canon Pixma printers. That's what I'm using on my system at home and it works GREAT! You might track down that thread and see if any of those work with the MPC400. Short of that, you might PM Patriot for advice. Or, he may answer this post soon.

Hmmm .....
Whoaa ... another few years and that printer is gonna be a classic ...
There's no specific free driver for mpc400 that I'm aware of ... but I recalled reading somewhere about the print head engine being the same as S600/S520 (couldn't remember the links though) ... A quick check indicates that canon mpc400 aka canon f30 was based off canon S600 designs ... So, I would suggest trying the Canon S600 or BJC600 driver on the mpc400 ... If test prints works okay then you may want to stick with it .....

Jay! thanks to both of you. Will take some time to test because he is totally absorbed traveling with his new GF. They love to travel in their house car.
I mean the house after the car. Cab? what is the name for such?
aah google says it is a 1. TRAILER or 2. CARAVAN that one live in on vacations and visit places so they are into that now. But sooner or later he wants to print out some maps for the travel so we will be at it.

That is because he has a linux user neighbor that is lousy at everything including setting up hardware and software combination.
He is home now but I don't dare test the advices yet. I guess he would pound his fist on my door if it was urgent. Or howl in the night as a lonesome wolf.
