Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.4.12 with 3.4.2 kernel.
It did the same to me...but then I did install it again. And it was recognized. Could it be that you should install devx sfs after you have installed getnvidia pet.
Anyway...there is nvidia pet already in the repo:

Oh and Pemasu I didn't write that wrapper script for dooble, it was already there. I liked it so I didn't bother creating a /usr/bin
I did alter the dooble.desktop to point to usr/share/icons since just putting a .png in the /usr/share/applications folder didn't show up on the menu.
and I removed unnecessary folders.
I am really tentative about removing too much from a program since I'm still a beginner.

Thanks, the pet works fine.pemasu wrote:It did the same to me...but then I did install it again. And it was recognized. Could it be that you should install devx sfs after you have installed getnvidia pet.

Gnuxo. I have had Mplayer2 in dpup almost all the time. I have compiled Mplayer also and changed between them. There does not seem to be much difference for frontends which one I use. Gnome-Mplayer might not like it 100 %. Smplayer, Umplayer does not care.
That uniprocessor version should be great for intel Celeron comp. My preinstalled version has been tuned for multiprocessors....and Mplayer and Mplayer2 are quite sensitive of that. The lower the tuning the better the compliance. I dont know if you miss the multithread support which Mplayer2 provides...when you tune to uniprocessor level.

Hi pemasu
Just a quick report that I tried 5.x.3.4.2.4 pristine frugal install on my desktop with nvidia graphics and it failed to boot - or rather it booted to a black screen and nothing I tried would get any sign of life from it.
I tried again but used the temporary edit facility in grub4dos to add pfix=nox and that then displayed the initial setup questions and booted me to a terminal prompt - ran xorgwizard to choose the nv driver and then xwin took me to a working desktop. I was then able to reboot and create a savefile successfully.
Cheers

Thanks for the hostname info. Good to know Barry Kauler`s fixes are finally superb.
I installed from the PPM jre-1.6.31-dpup.pet
Then I tested it. Check the working console row:

The same thing happens on my boxes with the newish Nvidia onboard graphics (7025 and 7050) ........ I just use ctrl/alt/bkspc to get to xorgwizard and set my desired screen resolutions. Luckily, no such problem with older Nvidia hardware.peebee wrote: Just a quick report that I tried 5.x.3.4.2.4 pristine frugal install on my desktop with nvidia graphics and it failed to boot - or rather it booted to a black screen and nothing I tried would get any sign of life from it.
I don't think nouveau was offered in the choose list - only nv - but maybe my memory playing tricks - I'll check sometime.....pemasu wrote:It might be that it loads nouveau driver....which then does not work. Is there any need to keep nouveau driver in the build ?

You are right. There is nouveau kernel module...but at some time I seemed to have deleted the nouveau xorg driver out. Or...better I have enabled the nouveau kernel module driver in kernel DOTconfig during make menuconfig state at kernel compile.
Hmm....could that combination of nouveau kernel module and missing xorg driver for it cause problems. Also nouveuau drm lib was missing.
I could add them....or remove nouveau kernel module from disturbing.

exprimo versions
Hello from 3.4.2.2 and thanks for all your work - you seem to be managing to carry on despite various issues in 'real life'. On thing I have been wondering is whether it might be possible to perhaps run a separate thread which records the various versions of your puppies as they appear, a kind of timeline. Just that I sometimes find myself a bit uncertain where things have got up to, what's the latest, and maybe it might be of interest to see the intervals between versions. It might also be of some historical interest with respect to what are now presumably the defunct ice and snow puppies. Maybe someone who folllows your doings closely might be able to run this for you? Just my one cent's worth anyway, if anyone thinks the idea worth pursuing.

Qupzilla-1.3.0 has been compiled and packaged. It needs qt only from exprimo repo....or

or
http://smokey01.com/pemasu/pet_packages ... t-dpup.sfs

if you want gstreamer support for Qupzilla....which gives you possibility to use webm and h264 with Qupzilla ie html5 support and you are not so dependent of Flash after that. You can use youtube html5 channel and get videos playing without flash with Qupzilla. Is it worth that big gstreamer support package. I dont know. I just packaged and enabled the possibility. And it is also one experiment for adventurers. Lol.

Timeline of my doing. Well all started when I decided to start kernel compiles again. I compiled my own kernels -99 with redhat 5.0....with 486 cpu. 2.0.35 was the masterpiece of the kernels at that time. Then I stopped experiments with linux. I created needed linux email server with different linux platforms and there was need for it 2000 - 2005. then the need stopped and I didnt use linux 2005 - 2009. 7/2009 I decided to check what Puppy Linux looked like and I was hooked. Soon I started to play with woof and soon after that I decided to give kernel compile a go. That was Snow Puppy with 2.6.35.7 kernel. That was the start. Ice Puppy was 2.6.38 kernel experiment. Polarpup with Qt libs was 2.6.39 kernel experiment. Then started dpup time when Iguldeder created his first test version. I changed immediately to debian squeeze. Dpup Exprimos have followed kernels 2.6.39.3 to 3.4.2.
I think that experimenting with kernels is useful for Puppyland. It has created several updates to the woof...and Barry Kauler started to create PAE kernels for those who like it. Also wireless support has improved through kernel experiments. I have posted the new changes to other developers like 01micko and Barry Kauler. Woof has several updates through those posts.
Also my builds have had always place for Puppy apps. I try to and like to provide platform to exhibit those nice - great -useful - small Puppy applications - with favor of gtkdialog or yad or something else small. Python coders...dont bother...no way....
My philosophy. I aint no coder...I like to experiment....I have always liked that....and I go on as long as it is fun.....

gstreamer
The gstreamer0.10-2-slacko.sfs, originally from the Debian squeeze repo., is working on Dpup Exprimo.

Shinobar. libgstvp8 and libgstx264 at least are missing from /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10 folder. You could copy them from my bigger gstreamer package...if you want. I suppose they need the right version of libvpx and libx264 with them..to be found in distro.
I dont know how that ffmpeg plugin works now when I have recompiled my ffmpeg...in fact several times. Well...I am sure someone tests it...at some time....
