Have you thought to remaster your tahrpup? I wonder also if building an adrv.sfs from your current savefile could solve the problem. Have you tried to run again:

Code: Select all

quicksetup
?
considering that the mouse and keyboard are not recognized on the new system if my savefile is loaded...i can't do either thing you suggested...which is why i asked what files i need to copy from the liveboot that does recognize the mouse and keyboard.

tlchost,

Try this:
Boot not using the save file.
Locate the save file and click on it to open in Rox.
Navigate to etc/X11/xorg.conf
Click on xorg.conf to open it in a text editor.
Find the section "inputDevice"
Should be settings for a keyboard and a mouse.

Now in the running Tahrpup you booted not using the save.
Navigate to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Click on xorg.conf to open it in a text editor.
Find the section "inputDevice"
Should be settings for a keyboard and a mouse.

Compare the two xorg.conf settings and see if there is anything different.
If yes.
Change the ones in the save file xorg.conf, to match the ones in the xorg.conf being used, when booted not using the save.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

up grade palemoon browser

#1483 Post by don922 »

I would like to upgrade the palemoon browser to the: palemoon-26.5.0-p4-glibc219tweak browser
replacing the palemoon-25.8.1 browser.

Is this possible? I don't really know very much about programing. So everything I do is a real challenge.

Any help or suggestions will really make things easier.

EDIT
I have upgraded the palemoon browser using the "Palemoon-updater" in the menu.
Seems to work okay.
EDIT2
I found a download, supplied by watchdog of palemoon-27.0.2-p4-glibc219tweak.pet in the Additional Software (PETs, n' stuff) » Browsers and Internet » palemoon browser I upgraded the browser using this pet and it is working good.

How to disable Palemoon Browser from Tahrpup 6.05.

#1484 Post by Sky Aisling »

Hello, :)
Does anyone know how to disable Palemoon browser from Tahrpup 6.05 64bit?
I've checked the 'no' box for making Palemoon my default browser. But, PM continues to be the browser of choice whenever I use links from incoming emails.
I've checked the 'yes' box for making Seamonkey my default browser. But, no joy there.
Will uninstalling Palemoon negatively impact anything on the OS?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I am not sure about a "Stock Puppy Tahr" at 64bit (of 666philb's version),but I am sure that's in My Version (as a "Puppy Tahr Lite" for PAE of a Modulated version) aren't be hard to replace from Palemoon to Seamonkey.

Hi 666philb,
and thanks for updating tahrpup 32b
Sadly I wasnt able to fully try it since it wont recognize my encrypted save-file containing all my mods (testing release?)
I'll stay with the perfect working previous version then, waiting for the upcoming 6.0.6 complete release.

Regards

The problem with the keyboard is just only in palemoon. I remember there was the same thing with raring and that there was a fix.

Encrypted savefiles have been removed during the woof-ce-rationalise / initrd changes.....not sure they will ever return.....

I wonder if it would be worth getting truecrypt going instead? Steve Gibson of Spinrite fame has the last great version stored here.

Its been audited and appears to be as good as you can get (I think) I also like to have my save files encrypted (Its not paranoid when they really ARE out to get you)

Thanks peebee.
Bad new. As many, I use PL because of its portable attitude. Usb sticks, to be short. But small usb devices are prone to be lost, sometimes with some kind of sensitive data like mail credentials (in clear text with sylpheed) and else. Therefore I'm not sure about the 'rational' aspect about removing this useful feature.
Furthermore, compatibility with previous patiently formatted savefiles is broken. Not good.

In theory you can still open your encrypted ext2 savefiles, just click on them. The encryption method is old and weak, it doesn't even support ext3 or ext4.

This has been discussed. But i guess i can bring this back so we can live in the past.. or (see below)

gyro was testing cryptsetup, and apparently he made it work, but then he said that it wasn't stable or something.

I guess i can try and resume his work, although i have never used an encrypted savefile.

many lines have been deleted though, so i have to restore them.

By the way, i think puppy should come almost "barebones" as it's getting big. and let the user install apps. also reduce firmware and let the users complain..

maybe the tiny core linux approach or things like quickpet or peebee's script to download browser sfs make more sense...

Thank you, jlst, for that!

If some of you experts can to that, and make it easy for us users to fix missing firmware, libs, etc, I'd be very glad.
