guys...there will also be a patch for devx later today, not that I think anyone will be re-compiling ffmpeg, but the amr dev libs have been left out(oops)

I will also put together delta files for the iso and devx sfs as well...

ok, I see sata80 reported the pwireless2 problem, I have the same, I grabbed a log

Code: Select all

+ rm '/tmp/Pwireless*'
rm: cannot remove `/tmp/Pwireless*': No such file or directory
+ GTKDIALOG=gtkdialog3
++ cat /usr/local/Pwireless2/interface
cat: /usr/local/Pwireless2/interface: No such file or directory
+ DEVICE=
+ [[ -z '' ]]
+ Xdialog --title Pwireless2 --msgbox 'Wireless interface not detected' 0 0
+ exit
Love that wally, though I will change it!

Dejan, pupRadio you just drag a url to the url box and hit play, mplayer runs in background on radio so you only see the splash. Buffering can take 0 to many seconds, even minutes on a slow connection and not all stations will work, but with the dpup ffmpeg many should. The idea of the Play Now button is to test a url and if it works you have the choice to replace any of the presets or save as a bookmark. Of course you would keep your most favoured stations as presets because they are only 1 click away.

HTH

Nice work Guy :)

No worries, I'll have a peek behind the scenes in dpup and stardust, because stardust has pwireless2 as well, failing that I'll ask jemimah.

So gposil, are we sticking with this kernel /libs /devx so I can recompile fluxbox / weechat without libiconv and generally make all apps fully compatible /w this core system?

Pwireless2 bug solved.

Follow these instructions

Worked for me. Seems an older version may have slipped into Dpup484, the code had differences. The version in Dpup now will not work.

BTW, having problems with numlock, never have before :?
edit: Scratch that, reran first start wiz and numlock is ok.

Cheers

484 is stable and fast and I have deleted my other dpupsaves. Awesome. New year, new puppy, it just keeps getting better.

Also, I keep forgetting to thank whomever made the filezilla pet, you rock.

Well, libiconv is still in devx so I just rm /usr/lib/libiconv* after loading devx and weechat doesn't use it if not found. /usr/include/iconv.h is still required to have though. weechat pet is about 400 KB now and doesn't require additional dependencies. Fluxbox 1.1.1 won't compile on 484 though, has some error which I don't understand.

dejan555,

I just compiled Fluxbox-1.1.1 and no problems, but it definitely needs libiconv, will not compile without it...so just as well still in devx....

Sorry I took so long to get back to you madcrow,

in /root/.packages you will find a file called DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS the repo info is on lines 5 and 8 of that file, they have to be manually edited.

Code: Select all

wget -t0 -c -P /WhereverYouWantToStoreTheIso/ http://www.dpup.org/test/dpup484beta1-2.6.30.5/dpup-484beta1-2.6.30.5.iso
?

Hey Guys...Great work.
I also had problem with Pwireless2 when selected from the Network category of the menu. When selected, Pwireless2 would start and find no networks just as described above. However, I did notice that if Dpup control panel was selected, using the link for "wireless"
would start pwireless-0.8.4 which would find and connect to the network. I followed 01micko directions and Pwireless2 now works from main menu but Dpup control panel still starts the older version.

Again, Thanks to all for all of thehard work!!!!!

As expected really worth! Posting now from it. I prefer Firefox.

Used some iconsthemes and see no change in icon folders; Where do live this icons? Can reset the defaults?

Hi

I did find a new beta1 "5" from yesterday in the depository.

I did write immediately and start an CD with that new ISO but, oh how terrible, the old disease of the new puppy's versions reappears:

the screen of the ACER emachines laptop is terrible dark. it is not possible to read. and it is not possible to increase the brightness of the screen...

sorry

bye

Dpup 484 does not have backlight support to my Acer laptop also, but same situation has been since Puppy 4.2. 4.12 is latest it had through /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/brightness which I have tested. It is installed by video module.
I have asked advice in different threads without cure. Compiling kernel with support to right module has been closest.

Acer-wmi adds backlight folder, but echo .... command does not alter brightness. My laptop is usually ok, but brightness is sometimes lowest. So something changes it.

So none new Puppy or puplet has support to some acer laptops I believe. Mine is Acer Travelmate 6592g.

Excuse my long story, but unable to change brightness is my biggest problem with puppies.

I tested dpup today and I installed vlc 0.86 from lenny repo succesfully. It seemed to work. VLC 1.03 should be in squuze repo so I am waiting it to puppy manager.

Streamit crashed X every time I tested it, so my laptop went totally black several times.
