Replaced EEEBuntu with Lucid Puppy, got Grub error 15

Trying to install Puppy Linux (Lucid) on an EEEPC with a 4GB SSD. Using UNetBootin and a USB flash drive to do so.

Previously had EEEBuntu.

Used GParted, created a new partition and a swap partition.
Looked as if all went well.

Removed the USB flash drive, and tried to reboot to Puppy.

Keep getting Grub Error 15

Is there a simple way to get rid of the grub error, and have a grub that works with Puppy?

Know enough to be dangerous, but, I am basically a newbie. Please provided details.

Please note I do not have a EEE or use Lucid.

Having said that when you created the new partition did you make it bootable?

Secondly did you elect to put the MBR in that partition when requested as part of the installation?

Yes, it was made bootable.

Used the Universal Installer to attempt a full install to sda1, and followed these instructions:

However, when I got to Image #24, it all fell apart.

Pressed Directory, but could not get to the files requested..

If you don't like to get the requested files then Puppy won't find a way to your disk.

The simple answer is: Yes.
The simple way: Simply install Puppy - and if there are files requested, you have to point to all of these files.

It seems to be that GRUB is working in the right way - GRUB just don't find something special which should be there. In your case it seems to be that Puppy is not there because of you don't like to find the requested files (see above).

The next time, if you try to install Puppy again, you should take care of that you USB flash drive is mounted. When you reached image #24 before clicking the directory button you have the last chance to mount the drive. The requested files should be in the root of your flash drive - at /mnt and and then select the drivename of your flash drive.

I sure do not understand why you think I 'do not like' to get the files??!!
It has nothing to do with liking.

I want to get the files, but, something happens, and the program pops up with a problem.

Also, the USB flash drive was mounted.

The requested files should be in the root of your flash drive - at /mnt and and then select the drivename of your flash drive.

So, after pressing the Directory button, the files should be at: /mnt/sdb, or, would they be at: /mnt/sdb1 ?

If sdb is your flash drive, then sdb1 is the first partition of that flash drive. Since usually partitions are mounted in /mnt, you have to choose /mnt/sdb1 when you'll be asked for the Puppy files. All needed puppy files should usually be in the root directory of sdb1.

Decided to use a Live CD to install Lucid Puppy.

All went well, and according to the tutorial found here:

The USB Flash drive install got too complicated.
