Flash, the disks are Memorex and Sony. Both brands behave in the same way. Maybe I will have to find better quality DVD's / CD's? Thank You.

musher0, yes, the laptop has a DVD/CD burner and reader..... according to the User Guide the hardware is fine. We decided to try one more pup... Saluki. It burned and booted on his laptop. It runs as expected. However, non of the other "pups" will boot. Thank you for your support.

Toni, Thank You for your response to my question. Basically, I was visiting a friend and just showing him Linux... well, mostly Puppy Linux. He had never heard of Linux. Anyway, I was just looking for a small OS to boot on his laptop. I tried several, but his laptop would not boot them. We were not ...

I was told by someone on another website to try Saluki. By golly, it worked.

Why is Saluki the only Linux pup that will boot on my friend's laptop? Nothing makes sense.

Anyway, good "ole" Jemimah. She is one of a kind... very talented... I miss her very much...

The DVD's booted just fine on my laptop. We were using Taharpup PAE. We tried Tahrpup nonPAE. My friend's laptop would still...

I wonder what else goes on behind our back with puppylinux?

I understand Google is a great company and lots of people use it. That's fine by me... however, I try to stay as far from Google as possible.

I will never use LxPup.
