Dingo, I tried out your OpenOffice package....... but some things need fixing. --Menu items are not working. I took a look in your package and noticed that there is no directory for /usr/bin and that /usr/local/bin is empty. This would be why the menu items are not working. --No menu icons. No icons...

In one word..... Nvidia Their drivers are proprietary, but easy to get working in about any distro, including Puppy. Myself, I have a 6500 series. It works with the newest drivers and was relatively cheap (< $50). About any Nvidia based card will work, with your budget being your only limit :) JB

Just tried out ver. RC4 with a windows game. The game did not run. (It ran in RC3). I ran the game from the command line, and the errors that came up look like this build of WINE was compiled without OpenGL support.

@Barry This is in regards to the "icon stacking" I found when inserting my USB key. I had this happening when I was running my screens native resolution of 1440x900. I switched it to 1024x768 and everything worked fine (I did have to move the sda and sdb icons as they were almost off of th...

CUPS-PDF - Save As..... not working

This is a problem in Puppy 4.0 (it may have started earlier) - If I try to print to PDF via the CUPS/CUPS-PDF option, I get the Save As... dialog. When I change the name of the file and hit OK, the window disappears, but nothing happens. I went to Firefox and to CUPS (localhost:631) and it showed th...

From the command prompt (not running "X") the following commands would be "poweroff" or "reboot"

note: I had to edit - I had shutdown listed though I believe it may be "poweroff"

Looks like you tried to install the package made for Puppy 3.X.

Try the one listed here:

@alienjeff,

Looking back at your first post(s), it seems you may need to "blacklist" the 3com module (BootManager config) to get the ndiswrapper one to load. I have had a similar problem with an atheros card that works better with ndiswrapper. (I have to blacklist the madwifi modules)

bump

Just wondering if anyone had been experimenting with OxygenOffice and Puppy 4.0 - Dingo and got it to work?

I used the kernel sources from 3.01 (renamed to kernel_src_399.sfs) with my 3.99 beta to install VirtualBox. As long as you are NOT using the 2.6.25 build, it should work for you too.

@tronkel I thought that too, and intentionally made a "Dingo" package, but that didn't solve anything. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that existing (Puppy 3.X) SFS packages are "forwards" compatible, and the problems arise when you try to use an SFS made in Dingo on an e...

OxygenOffice Professional 2.4.0

Here it is: I have prepared an SFS package for OxygenOffice 2.4.0. Unlike my previous OxygenOffices, which were actually OpenOffice with the Oxygen "extras", this is the REAL, FULL, thing. There is one catch.... It is only working in Puppy 3.XX (that I tested). I have also tried in Dingo b...

Shouldn't "libGLU.so.1" be part of an Xorg package - not QT?

I tried out Pencil in Puppy 3.99. I downloaded the Pencil.pet - installed the QT4 package via PETget (ibiblio repository), and have the Fatdog.sfs running (libGLU.so.1 included in sfs). Works like a charm.

I believe the kernel headers are included in the devx file (someone correct me if I am wrong). devx_214.sfs can be downloaded here:

ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributio ... vx_214.sfs

or

Thank you for testing. The big hang up has been the Spell Checker. Could you verify whether it is working or not?
