QtWeb - fast portable browser
the qtweb-source is hosted on github
https://github.com/magist3r/QtWeb
the locales are under
https://github.com/magist3r/QtWeb/tree/ ... rc/data/tr
As QtWeb is an interest "little" browser it might be a good idea to help with translations.
If Barry includes QtWeb in his next release, we would all benefit from better translations.

PUPPY SEARCH: http://wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html
On QtWeb, when I clicked on the Cancel button in the download window, QtWeb closed without any warning at all.
Also, if one checks their /tmp/xerrs.log file, there seems to be a problem with GTK windows that basically continues to repeat.
An example is:
(QtWeb:21498): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed
(QtWeb:21498): Gdk-WARNING **: gdkdrawable-x11.c:952 drawable is not a pixmap or window
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
I think it is not ready for prime time yet.

OK, thanks for the help.
pemasu's fix eliminated the SSL-error problem.
Because I'm in Wary, I had to manually download that package from Ubuntu's repo.
(It's only available via Puppy Package Manager in Ubuntu-based Puppies.)
However, this problem still persists:

Perhaps it seems too easy: have you tried to run qtweb in console, to login at that website, and to see if it's reported some error in console?Dewbie wrote: However, this problem still persists:So it might be unrelated to the SSL issue...while navigating Amazon.com....after typing in the first few letters of my e-mail address to log in, QtWeb crashes and disappears.

I am trying qtweb , and I have some questions :
- why is their forum down (http://qtweb.net/smf/) ?
- where can we report bugs ? for instance QTweb 3.8.5 crashes on start
- why are those certificate errors ? where does that /etc/ca-certificates.conf come from ? why is update-ca-certificates script not in puppy ? and we dont have the /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt and /etc/ssl/certs is empty...
- I cannot get flash to work if removing seamonkey ? anyone know where to set flash ? variables ? files ?
- is it possible to compile qtweb ?

Compile? Sure. As long as you don't mind grab'n the 230mb qt-everywhere-opensource pkg.
Really though- you'd be better off running the previous build as referenced in MMikes`post.

a build 108 pet found!
I've found a pet of build-108, showing ver. as 3.8.4, but featured as same as version 3.8.5.linuxcbon wrote: .... QTweb 3.8.5 crashes on start
is it possible to compile qtweb ?
-- compiled from source of build 108 (Sep 11), on Puppy Linux 431JP2012.
-- Qt-library statically combined.
-- having same features as 3.8.5, e.g., Shift-JIS encoding supported.

You can download pet and rename it, e.g., QtWeb-b108.pet.
I'm very encouraged to see that active development of QtWeb is ongoing, with a new release last month.
I've just been taking a sniff (belated thanks, ttuuxxx, for the PET). It seems to me that this has the makings of a very good Puppy browser for the (increasing?) number of us who do not require an email client built-in.
I'm really impressed that it offers a means of enabling/disabling cookies and JavaScript directly from the keyboard, which IMHO has been an unaddressed screaming need with its bigger rivals for years.
The showstopper: from my attempts to understand the file structure, I figure that bookmarks are concealed within the big binary. If that is the case, the prospect of transferring my several hundred MB of cherished bookmarks one-by-one is simply not acceptable - that's a killer.
Grrr, QtWeb has now set itself up as my default browser without my so requesting it. IMHO this is a really cheap-and-nasty move on the part of the devs, if it is of their doing, which ensures that I shall expunge it from my system.
Nonetheless, I do hope that in due course the developers will go on to produce an eminently worthy rival to the overcomplicated job-creation schemes which the Mozilla folks seem increasingly keen to thrust upon us.

I haven't seen the pet you are using but when you use the QtWeb binary it creates two folders, QtWebCache and QtWebSettings, in the same location as the binary. The bookmarks are contained in /QtWebCache/bookmarks.xbel. This file can be opened and edited as a text file. I believe when the file unins000.exe is included, which makes the browser portable, this overrides the creation of these folders.dogle wrote:The showstopper: from my attempts to understand the file structure, I figure that bookmarks are concealed within the big binary.

QtWeb does not set itself up as the default browser. I suspect it is setup that way in the .pet you have used.
Cheers, J
