Wary64, very small, for x86_64 CPUs

I have a 1.5 gig IBM desktop model, so I burnt a CD of Wary64.

It booted up albeit slowly. The apps launch fast. I was able to take the CD
out of the tray.Cool

I haven't tried a "save" yet.

I tried the 'save'.

I didn't have a CD in my tray, but it went ahead and compressed the data.
Everything seemed to go well, but of course it couldn't burn to CD!!!

For users who want to compile but only have a 4 GB card,
I have divided the devx file into two smaller parts a and b.

They will easily install on a 4 GB card

I have uploaded my two devx files ---> a and b

I found 3 bugs.

[BUG 1] After "Restart X server" was clicked, all drive's icons disappeared.

[BUG 2] I ran WARY64 6.99 LiveCD on my acer V3-371 laptop computer. It has both analog and HDMI for sound output. I did not use HDMI for sound output device. When the mouse was moved over the loudspeaker icon located in the right-hand side of system tray, the displayed volume was 65295%. I have to use retrovol to choose the analog sound card manually to correct this bug.

[BUG 3] Touchpad of my acer V3-371 does not work. By the way, the touchpad works well when my acer laptop runs Ubuntu.

Since it works on Ubbie, it cannot be faulty, just needs switching on/adjustment - see setup - all this with (live)plug-in USB mouse & ditto k/b(if necessary). Acer/Dell not good choice unless funds are tight, nor Lenovo unless you want ads. galore (patch might work, though). Actually, laptops are a bad choice, anyway - overpriced, vunerable, battery life, etc., etc. 10" pad better, cheaper, can plug in USB mouse, native *buntu, if you you can afford it, or 'root' an Android device (cheap). Not sure when the doggie will be ready for pads?
HDMI sound: ha! join the club. Always tricky and several HW implementations to choose from; do you know which you have? Stick with analogue unless you have perfect pitch?

Lot of testing, finally pinpointed the area of the FlashPlayer issues in some 64bit offerings, probably confirming rufwoof's analysis:
Wary64 6.99: FP/getflash d/l+instl works just fine with default v.11 ....422 on iPlayer
April64 7.0: FP/getflash - issues with getflash/FP d/l, gives unusual messages, not sure whether it's saying files not d/l or not installed, either way iPlayer does NOT work.

BK is the man, indeed! He will know exactly what the difference is between this area of 6.99 and 7.0.

Couldn't get Aprilx86 7.0 to complete booting - only 2.5Gb mem. at present as had to borrow RAM for another machine. Please confirm that 4Gb is absolute minimum. That's quite a tall order for many still using old x86 boards? Maybe some SW adjust could be made to reduce the x86 Ram requirements? Bridge too far for new compilation?

Wary64 is a variant of April64, a Quirky puplet aiming for very small size. Why I need such small size these days, I'm not so sure, but it is fun to do -- download is just 110.8MB, with a fully-featured distro, having "everything that you would want".

Isnt having fun the best reason to do something that's a hobby? As usual, I'm impressed with what you've been able to accomplish.

[- a more recent version (with about this size!), that question first to avoid to spend energy to adapt some solution on already actualized system]
- a compatibility lib / package for 32 bit (esp. xvidcap, and, if needing for it to capture best sound, pulse audio, but also air old 32 bit version from adobe needing by the educational software scratch2)

PS: what is with Wine / some virtualization to complete the scope of app's, esp. for educational purposes where *.exe's continue to be the most used distributions way?

is an exactly correspondent wary32 version perhaps also available (because educational projects prefer to have both at disposition )?
