LittleMonkey theme with ColorfulTabs and SeaTab X. Compact, close buttons on tabs, active tab highlighted. Not what I'd call pretty, but works well for me.[/img]

Just downloaded Quirky and installed on a USB flash drive. This is one fast Puppy! Only one quirk so far - my monitor doesn't properly report its EDID, so even though I can select 1680x1050 (the monitor's native resolution) in the xorgwizard, the display comes up 1024x768 which can't be scaled any h...

Not on my AOA150-1570 at the moment, but as I recall Puppy 412 used kernel 2.6.25, which means you need to use either the madwifi driver (ath_pci) or ndiswrapper with the Windows Atheros driver. However, the ath5k driver in kernels 2.6.29 and beyond works fine on the Aspire One; check out, for examp...

Using isohybrid to make bootable isos

Decided to check out pup4-417-k2.6.30.1.iso on my Acer Aspire One AOA150-1570 netbook. The only bug so far: card slots don't work unless occupied at boot time. One of the joys of a netbook is no optical drive. In an attempt to easily install pup4-417 on a USB stick (ok, so it's really a 4GB SD card ...

Finally got around to some preliminary testing of woof alpha 9 on my Acer Aspire One. Currently running off a live USB stick created with unetbootin. (1) I was able to connect to my brother-in-law's WPA-protected network without any problems. (2) Sound works. (3) SD cards are recognized, but needed ...

it's been a while since I've looked at a upup (or is that an upup?), but at this time I can report the following: 1. Selecting 1680x1050 from the Xorg wizard now actually gives me 1680x1050 rather than 1024x768. 2. gxine crashes trying to play an mp3 (Pmusic is ok): # gxine JohnnyCash_I_WalkTheLine....

interestingly a stock Puppy download like 4.12 or 4.20 does not give wifi. Yes, that's because the Aspire One requires the special version of MADWiFi (ath_pci) driver available separately here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=237740#237740 Acer-puppy-4.10-27.iso (obviously) includes...

If this is a dumb idea, please just say so, I won't feel insulted. What if apps were compiled statically? One could have a completely self-contained gimp.sfs, firefox.sfs, openoffice.sfs (now that's a scary one), etc...

Actually, the card readers not working are a big deal for me. I've got the 120GB HDD, and I'm willing to accept that I have to use my USB reader with my camera's xD card, but I expect both SD card slots to work, whether or not those slots are occupied at boot time. It's a real mess, and it's not Pup...

Re: aspire one puppy

The device is a AOA, so with 120GB HDD. If I push F12 without the usb stick plugged, I get the boot selection list with the HDD and the network. When I do the same with the usb stick plugged in, then the system freezes at 'entering the boot list' All I can do then is push the BRS. Same for F2 when ...

Both sd card readers work if the card is in @ boot. Had this problem with Fedora, but there's a way to get the sd card slots working even if there's no card in the slot at boot. Not on my AA1 right now, but I believe the solution was to make sure mmc_core, mmc_block, sdhci, pciehp, and (I think) sd...

In adddition can't see any way to line up the icons in a row (trivial prob by comparison).
I've taken to editing /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin manually. This obviously is not a good solution; just a crude but effective work-around.
